Plenty of places it would look great in Birmingham.

Though Wolves has started building with quite high quality and well thought out schemes. Everything from the materials to the design has been done in context.

Though I suppose a lot of that is because it's the council developping. In Birmingham market forces dictate I suppose.

Great to see all the regions finally start to pull their weight and get in on the construction projects

When this is finished i hope that they spend some time and money putting greenery in around the whole area: not just i9, but around i10, the bus station and the new tram stop as well. Its the one thing that i feel is really missing.

Slight shame this will block the view of what is possibly Wolvo's nicest building, but then again the more the town is built up and gaps filled the better. Echo the sympathetic design from above.

I think with the way the building sticks out it will retain its best vantage points.

This view will be blocked partially:

But can still get a good angle of this side from the station.

i9 has even been designed so that one side is angled to protect this view.

Yeah, the view of the Chubb building will be quite blocked off for people arriving from the train station. But the vantage point that the majority of people see the building from looks like this already anyway:

Here's hoping the building ends up being of equal or better quality anyway, so the fact it blocks the view of the Chubb building from the south doesn't matter too much.

I'm actually excited by the street that Chubb, i9 and Prince Albert will create, and hope something similar is built on the pink car park. I think Glen Howells have the capability to pull this off and create a really strong streetscape.

Here's an interesting one. Glen Howells have reused this design in Vauxhall, London! - but it's changed a little to suit. Spot the difference...

Yes - their design philosophy is around well designed simple and strong forms so its not surprising to see repeating styles and patterns - they are not the type of architects to make every building a shouty 'landmark' - quite the opposite.

Sometimes it's exactly what's needed, especially here opposite Chubb.

Last couple of days they seem to have stated work on clearing all the plants. So, some action to report, albeit not much.
