That would be a contradiction to the name of the thread wouldn't it?

It's sad that people can't discuss with each other without starting to be mad or butthurt because someone disagrees or said a bad thing about a city, even if it's a constructive and useful critic of it. Mods should be harsh with the rulebreakers and finally we shall be able to discuss as civilised individuals

I greatly appreciate your help. We will lock this thread for good if it continues to attract trolls. It'd be a shame if we have to do that because we never have such a messy trolling problem with other discussion threads.

Btw, I have reversed the infraction.

Btw, I have reversed the infraction.
Is there no way you can just ban those who persist in abusing the thread.

This thread is supposed to be so that we can have an open and honest debate about which City has the best skyline in Europe. This means discussing a whole raft of issues:

-city planning
-existing skyscrapers
-proposed developments
-investment
-economic factors
-architectural styles
-population
-supply and demand
-governance
-design

Etc etc

I'm keen to discuss these issues and there others that wish to do the same.

I have no problem in people disagreeing with my point of view or promoting the merits of other cities skylines that might not be in line with my own thinking. That is what a discussion is!

There seems to be an inordinate amount of people on here who can't stand it if you make a post that dosnt backup their own beliefs and so they reply with insulting remarks about an entire nation.

These people are clearly unable to have a discussion, or make an intelligent argument and so we end up with page after page of photographs of the same skyline and a rush to 'like' photographs of their own cities or simply make lists of their favourite cities without making any kind of argument whatsoever.

Please ban those that constantly abuse the thread, and allow the rest of us to have a discussion.

Give me some time to sort out who the troublemakers are on my own without it being hearsay. Someone on this thread has already gotten an infraction from both me and Yellow Fever. I used to just flat out ban people for getting indignant with me, but then, I got a reputation for being a loose cannon that needed to be tied down. I'm trying to get a feel for what the old me was like as well as repeat offenders in the troublemaking department.

Again, the growth of Istanbul is fantastic. Also it's topography really makes it a really attractive skyline. Yes, 50% of the towers aren't the best design but then neither are they in the likes of Hong Kong or Shanghai which have world class skylines.

It is going to become quite the photographic skyline of Europe over the next decade. (Plus I love visiting so I might be a bit biased when I root for it over other cities).

This is an interesting philosophical question : could we discuss objectively which capital city (in most cases) is the greatest, the best looking, the one that shows the best economic growth reflecting in the modern skyline, without involving national pride ? There is no discussion, the answer is no. It is a troll thread but it is not soooo bad.
So, my position : Projects in Istanbul are amazing, the city is booming. I love London on postal cards, there are many landscapes I like and althouh some projetcs are amazing they will be spread all over the city. Frqnkfurt is a classic, but i don't really see it moving. Moscow lack some medium size buildings around the cluster to make it less artificial. And as you expect making my initial point, Paris overrule everything else, i'm french No, i'm kidding. Or not. Don't ban me.

Unlikey the other cities, Istanbul is not flat, so many towers look smaller than they are

But from other angles they can look taller. Birmingham has the same problem. We have a sandstone ridge. Some angles the cities towers look "big" then others you can barely see them.
