Maps

I've updated my maps.

I haven't been as vigilant as I've been in the past about keeping up with the status of projects in Dexterville, Lower Queen Ann, Capitol Hill, and First Hill. So if anyone spots any errors or omissions, please let me know and I'll correct them.

Anyone know what happened to that idea that was floating around a couple years ago...of the King County area of downtown getting redeveloped? Or was I just dreaming that was something that was being floated around with some news articles...

I’d be happy with a power wash.

Well...I found this from February. Couldn't find anything else...kinda seems like there should've been another meeting or two per their schedule...but I couldn't find it.

We’re connected to the Ukraine Scandal!

Gordon Sondland, the US ambassador to the E.U. is the chairman of Provenance Hotels.
Quote:
Sondland’s company Provenance Hotels owns and manages hotels throughout the U.S. including the Hotel Max, and Hotel Theodore in Seattle, Washington; Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Washington; Hotel deLuxe, Hotel Lucia, Sentinel, Dossier, and Heathman Hotel in Portland, Oregon;
Yay Seattle!

Random discussion question- does Calgary have the most “way better than they should have” skyline in the world? Holy cow. An aerial photograph shows what a monstrous, and dense, core of towers that city has. Metro of 1.4 million.

In the world....no. North America maybe, but Panama city Panamas skyline is no joke for it's size either. The metro is roughly the same size as Calgary.

I think the "way better than it should be skyline award" probably would end up going to resort towns like Benidorm (~70K) in Spain or Balneario Cambioriu (metro 400K) in Brazil. That being said, I don't know if it's fair to compare these two as they're financed and developed to a large extent by the largest metros in their respective countries (Madrid/Sao Paulo).

For a standalone metro, I'm having trouble thinking of anything that compares to Calgary.

Don't forget Dubai. Yes its population is bigger. But wow, impressive skylines in all directions.

Surfers Paradise Australia is another small resort city that has a large skyline. Outside of Dubai there is also Abu Dhabi. Calgary may take the win on office space high rises for its size though.

Speaking of skylines...

I claim no responsibility for tomorrow's banner.

After I submitted the banner that showed up on September 23, Jan (founder of SSC and current BannerMeister) decided that Mt. Rainier made our skyline look too small, so he removed it.

That is f**ked up!

That's like saying, you know what, Table Mountain makes Cape Town look too little, remove it...

I think Sugarloaf Mountain doesn't do Rio de Janeiro's building's justice, photoshop it out...

Those Alps detract from Zurich, nix them...

North Shore Mountains behind Vancouver... delete...

In fairness, it was a joke on Jan's part. I actually think it's kind of funny.

Mountain or no mountain that is about as poor of a representation of the current Seattle skyline that exists in media form. BTW, can the Seattle backdrop that is used when people are being interviewed from here by news outlets, ESPN, etc be updated from 1996, please??? Thank You.

I know, it's insane. Even the backdrops used by local channels, like Q13, are outdated and have like a third of the buildings missing.
