Let's get back to reality here, our trolley system will connect the Channelside area to the intermodel station faster than the light rail system.
And I responded by pointing out that it would be a bad solution to count on the streetcar to get people from the intermodal station to their place of work further south on the downtown peninsula.

The streetcar should keep doing what I have said it should be doing for years; connecting downtown's entertainment/cultural attractions, hotels and parking garages... Light rail needs to come into downtown on its own alignment, without a transfer... I vastly prefer an elevated LRT stub line following Florida Ave all the way to the Crosstown, where it would drop to at-grade and have a final stop at the TECO Plaza... Or have an at-grade stub line run down the middle of Morgan St and terminate it at old Water St near the streetcar stop there... Either way, I would jog the streetcar west on Whiting and running it up Tampa St or Ashley St and eventually to Palm Ave in Tampa Heights. Later, I would loop it on the east side of the CBD, either by way of Morgan St, or better yet Nebraska/Meridian St, since that could hit Amtrak and future commuter lines.

Good luck with that - talk to city officials about anything elevated and they stare at you like you are speaking Swahili

Because they are looking for their name on a plaque - not to build the best system the first time around.

Let me guess, they tried to connect anything elevated to a monorail system and said they didn't want a monorail system but a light rail system? I've recieved that kind of response.

In the numerous times I have tried to discuss things with them, I was basically ignored. I guess I didn't merit even a lame excuse.

Haha, yeah it's pretty sad. I actually even remember a comparison of the Disney monorail to an elevated light rail. Because as we all know, they're about 99% the same!
