There are two new projects happening at the CT Station, worth about R140m, some nice new additions, etc, starting in Nov & Jan.....but unfortunately i don't think they will constitute the putting up of a tower crane, alas, but still, some much needed regeneration and upgrade for that area of town!!!

Yeah, brief overview:-

The two stations jobs are also quite nice, they going to completely redo the Parade Concourse (R100m) and then build a new building next to the parking deck for the drivers, nothing amazing or too big, just 3 stoires, a smallish, R50m job.

To be completed over then next year.

Don't have any pics or renders or anything yet.....

A lot of the netting has been removed. It looks all tattered from the wind, but now it seems I can see glass underneath. It's hard to judge but it doesn't look much like what the original scheme was due to look like.

They're moving pretty quickly on this one.

Some on the go images from my iPhone:

Thanks for the shots! Yeah...it looks like a major departure from the original design. It's hard to say how it's going to turn out just from what we can see, but that is some very reflective glass, so I hope it doesn't turn out looking too cheap/tacky!

Haha, I laugh at what happened to that nice pretty, neat blue shade cloth. You would think that after like 50 years of building in Cape Town you would learn that you CANNOT put shade cloth on a scaffold, no matter how much you tie it down or anything!!

That South-easter is all powerful and has no mercy, she WILL rip it apart!! :P

Very disappointing.... looks like they are just filling in the spaces between the original concrete with glass, even those awful pyramidal tops stay... and no real redesign as per the renders.

Yeah I can't say I'm a fan from what I'm seeing either...it looks extremely tacky.

I'll be the eternal optimist. It doesn't look all that horrible. Any amount of glass is a good addition in that part of the city. What bothers me more is that they didn't add a floor or two. That tedious same height monotony of all the buildings on that side of lower adderley does nothing for the skyline.

Lets wait and see - hopefully it will appear and appeal better when the scaffoldings gone - and maybe the concrete bits will get a paint

at the end of the day 8-15 odd story buildings arent bad - comparable with a lot of non-skyscraper tollerant european capitals - Brussels, zurich , etc - so long as it adds to bulk and is modern enough ( in countries where no magestic grand large building with all the flourishes are abundant ) then thats still prity decent.

Would have like black glass to contrast against the slab next door!
..and praying for a massive Captetonian revamp - this is the "Senator" of this part of the city ..complete Kak-hole!
