Making slow progress here.... looks like they are keeping the fluted columns on the base section. That paper covering hiding that awful red????

I really hope not! They seem to be deviating from the render ever so slightly, so perhaps by some stroke of luck the biggest deviation is underneath that wrapping

This has turned out quite nice thus far. My favorite development after 22 Bree.

You guys. Check out the colour on the support beam.

Also had a closer look at the cladding on the base O.o, and from what I can see behind the film, we're definitely looking at a red base.

That red will definitely attract attention.

They've installed the 'G' of the Grand Parade Investment signage, so it looks like they're pretty much sticking to the render. Oh and yes, definitely a red base. Some of the wrapping on the facade is off. You can see the red in this image, just a bit below the 'G'. Hopefully they'll lose that horrid veranda thing, but still install those ticker tape LED displays.

And slowly but surely they begin turning what could be a sleek building into a haphazard, cluttered mess

I actually like the veranda thing. To avoid clutter, they could maybe use three flags instead of what appears to be six in the render.

The veranda would look a lot better if it were flat, in my opinion. I understand that they're trying to match the roof, but it all gets a bit...busy...for my taste.

I can already picture the BK logo on that Red base. That's probably why they went with Red.

Do we have one or two floors of retail/ BK restaurant?

BK will occupy two floors apparently.

So, I was at CT station to get a train schedule. On my way out, as I was about to cross Adderley street, I glanced down towards the foreshore and immediately noticed the red. Here is is gents:

My opnion? I honestly love it. It doesn't look as tacky as the renders would have suggested. The render was really bad. The red does a lot for the immediate area. If the sole purpose to attract attention, then mission 100% accomplished. It soon will be Burger King central after all.

I'm still not the biggest fan, but it does look better than the render. Maybe my opinion will change once everything's in place and the scaffolding has been removed. I'm interested to see where they put the Burger King signage and how large it's going to be. That veranda still has the potential to ruin it completely.

I think its atrocious.... the base has no relationship to the top section at all... look like 2 different buildings stuck together.

It really does look better if you see it with your own eyes. The red injects some 'funk' into Heerengracht IMO. The section just above the WBHO banner suggests they'll install that electronic display as well.
