Norwich City will go ahead with plans to build a new academy after supporters and board members raised £5m.

More than 700 fans and investors put in a minimum of £500 each to exceed the £3.5m target and reach the £5m limit through a five-year bond scheme.

Work has already begun on the academy which has category one status, the highest level in English football.

New pitches, club offices and dressing rooms will form part of the academy at the club's training ground, for which the £5m will be ring-fenced.

Investors will earn interest and receive a 25% bonus if the Canaries are promoted to the Premier League in the next five years.

A JUDICIAL review in the Court of Appeal has found in favour of Ealing Council regarding their decision to grant QPR planning permission to develop Warren Farm for an academy and training facility.

QPR CEO Lee Hoos told www.qpr.co.uk: “A new training ground has always been at the forefront of our strategic planning for the Club.

“This decision is fantastic news and a massive step forward that finally gives us the pathway we need to see this priority through.

“The objectors have 28 days in which to file an appeal to the Supreme Court. The expiry of this will represent the final legal hurdle, which is significant news.

“We would like to place on record our gratitude to Ealing Council for their perseverance in this matter.”

The club will update supporters regarding the next stages for this development in due course.

Archaeological excavations - "archelogical diagnostics" according to the PSG - are currently taking place on the lands of Poncy, in Poissy (Yvelines), bought by the Parisian club to install its future ultramodern training center. Remains of Gallo-Roman villas would be buried in the basement. According to some specialists, the real site of Lutetia (name of the Gallic city which designates Paris today) would also be located in the region of Poissy.

Depending on the discoveries, the capital club could therefore still have to delay the opening of its performance center. Scheduled for late 2020-early 2021, it may only be effective for the 2021-2022 season. In the meantime, the sports director, Antero Henrique, is thinking about improvements to the current Camp des Loges.

Preview of some of the almost completed Portland Timbers training facility expansion

https://twitter.com/MerrittPaulson/s...79740885372928

The expansion should be complete in the next few weeks, so we should see a proper reveal then. Text from the following article says that the club is also looking to expand their footprint to a third pitch at the current facility.

Quote:
Begun at the close of the 2017 regular season, the club’s training center expansion will see the space triple in growth to 24,000 square feet. Improvements include an enlarged new weight room, a film theatre room for game study and match prep, a new gourmet kitchen and commissary with players’ lounge, expanded auxiliary locker rooms, four new training tubs with expanded treatment areas, an enlarged coaches’ area, and a new media studio space.

First opened in 2012, the training center is the nexus for all Timbers teams with the first team, T2 and Academy squads all utilizing the space for practice and sports fitness. It includes two full-size playing fields—one grass and one FieldTurf. As part of the new renovation, the FIFA Quality Pro Standard FieldTurf field will get an upgrade with a newly installed pitch and the club hopes to expand the current training pitch footprint as well.

Plans for a state-of-the-art training complex took a major step forward earlier this week when the town of Foxborough approved zoning changes, potentially paving the way for the New England Revolution to significantly expand and upgrade their current facilities.

“We still need to undergo the permitting process with the town and make sure we do all that in the right way,” said Revolution president Brian Bilello. “But the zoning change was really the first big step in doing that, and now we’re going to walk through the other process.”

There’s no firm timeline on when that permitting process could be completed, but Bilello said the Revs hope to move forward “as quickly as possible,” and their goal is to begin construction on the site at some point this year.

A site map released after the zoning changes were approved lays out the footprint of the proposed training complex, which would feature four training fields – three grass fields and a turf field – as well as a state-of-the-art training facility that would house both the first team and the Academy.

One of those grass fields already exists and currently serves as the Revolution’s first-team training ground, but the rest of their facilities – including their locker room, meal room, strength and conditioning room and coaches’ offices – are located within Gillette Stadium. This new complex, located behind the south marketplace of Patriot Place, would provide “an expansion and an upgrade of those facilities,” according to Bilello.

“It’s expanding those facilities to have a bit more in them, given how we’ve grown over the last decade or so,” Bilello said.

Part of that growth has included the Academy, which will have locker rooms, offices and study areas within the new facility. One of the grass fields will also be dedicated to Academy use, while they’ll continue to have access to the Gillette Stadium field and the space inside the Empower Fieldhouse.

New Dolphins practice facility and World Cup qualifier coming to Miami?

BY ADAM H. BEASLEY
[email protected]
April 28, 2018 03:45 PM
Updated April 28, 2018 03:54 PM

The Dolphins might be moving to Miami.

The team is considering leaving its longtime home in Davie by 2022, the Herald has learned. The possible new address? Miami-Dade County.

The Dolphins have practiced in their facility at Nova Southeastern University for the last quarter-century, but plan to upgrade, and possibly move, in the next four years.

The news was included in the 2026 World Cup bid book submitted by the North American partnership and posted online last month.

The important language, tucked more than 200 pages into the bid:

"Future Miami Dolphins Training Site, Miami, Florida: Scheduled to open in 2022, this future training site for the NFL Miami Dolphins will feature three pristine athletic fields, at least two of which will be natural grass playing surfaces."

However, the Herald has learned that while the Dolphins are mulling a move, one is not guaranteed, and the organization's football operations could remain in Davie. What is certain: The team plans to upgrade its facilities in the next four years.
Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nf...#storylink=cpy (emphasis mine)

So news that the Dolphins are planning a big upgrade of their team facilities, and from the 2026 World Cup bid book no less! Hopefully the news will encourage the Dolphins to come out soon with more details regarding their plans.

And according to Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel, one possible location for the Dolphins' new facility is Miramar:

Quote:
Dolphins considering Miramar for future home of team's headquarters

By Omar Kelly
Sun Sentinel

The Miami Dolphins are shopping around for a new home for the team’s headquarters, and Miramar appears to be one of the cities under consideration.

The Dolphins have approached the city of Miramar about purchasing or leasing land near the Miami-Dade/Broward County borderline with the goal of building a facility to house the team’s players, coaches and auxiliary staff, according to Miramar mayor Wayne M. Messam, who has called an informal town hall meeting on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. to present the proposal to his constituents.

“It’s all preliminary at this point,” Messam said. “We’re just evaluating the proposal and what an agreement would look like. We want to get resident input regarding the prospects, see how many residents support it and those who don’t.”

The Dolphins have practiced at Nova Southeastern University in Davie since 1993, moving there from St. Thomas University, where they had practiced for more than two decades.

The Dolphins want to continue to upgrade the Davie complex but feel as if they are running out of space to do so. The team headquarters also sits on land the organization leases, and the terms and length of the lease are not known.

Over the past five years the Dolphins have poured millions into the Davie facility, expanding the meal room, and the weight room. Last year, the Dolphins added a pair of trailers that sit between the complex and the indoor practice field and they are used to house player-related centers that don’t fit inside the complex.

A move to Miramar, or another area, could generate unwelcomed traffic in August when fans attend the 14-20 training camp practices that are open to the public. But those usually only draw a couple thousand patrons per day, with weekend sessions being the exception.

However, the community that houses the team’s new facility could potentially benefit from Dolphins’ players moving into the neighborhood, and the taxes the team pays the city and county, particularly bed taxes.

The Dolphins declined to comment on the Miramar proposal, but a team spokesperson stressed that the franchise doesn’t plan to relocate employees based at the stadium.

Messam did label the discussions as “very preliminary,” and mentioned that the Dolphins have targeted a few communities for their next home, which will reportedly house three football fields and a state of the art training center.

“A project of that magnitude would take time to build and construct,” said Messam, who has served as Miramar’s mayor since 2015.

LONDON | TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR | PLAYER ACCOMMODATION LODGE

Quote:
An exclusive first look inside The Lodge

We can now for the first time reveal exclusive imagery of our completed player accommodation Lodge, adjacent to our world-class Training Centre in Enfield.

The Brazilian national team will be The Lodge’s first guests, arriving on Monday and basing themselves at the brand new facility before departing for the World Cup in Russia on June 8.

Situated on the site of Myddelton Farm, The Lodge has been sensitively designed and furnished by F3 Architects LLP and built by Base Contracts Ltd to deliver the highest quality private accommodation and treatment facilities for our players and teams whilst retaining the farm’s key features and heritage.

Entry to The Lodge is gained through the original Farmhouse, with the reception area giving a warm and homely feel.

The Farmhouse then opens out into a light and spacious restaurant with large windows looking out to give an al fresco dining feel.

At the back of the restaurant is a large media screen equipped with games consoles and soft seating for recreation, while the original living areas can be accessed for more private meetings in a homely environment.

On the upper floor of the Farmhouse is the Myddelton Suite designed as private quarters equipped with a bedroom, bathroom and living area that includes a digital tactics board for meetings.

Across the landing is the Courtyard Room – similar quarters that overlook the original farmyard that has been redesigned as an open recreation area. On the opposite side of the Courtyard is the redeveloped Stables that also features two en suite bedrooms.

Players and backroom staff, meanwhile, will stay within a 40-bedroom, two floor, purpose-built crescent building, complete with green roof, that nestles into its natural surroundings.

Its corridors feature the inspirational Universal Game design, depicting some of the greatest goals in the history of football in a galactic style.

The rooms themselves are designed to maximise sleep, from the ultra-comfortable mattresses to lighting that automatically changes temperature depending on the time of day.

All rooms look out onto a spectacular communal garden area, equipped with a fire pit, bean bags and sun loungers that facilitates team bonding.

The Lodge’s basement is dedicated to Wellness and Recovery, with a high-quality gym that includes a first-of-its-kind flexible wall that accommodates a variety of equipment, as well as an altitude chamber, massage beds, strapping area and Doctor’s surgery.

Adjoining the gym is a large multi-purpose theatre room that can be used for team meetings, as a cinema room for recreation or as additional gym space or yoga studio, while there is also a hydrotherapy spa with both hot and cold pools for recovery.

This is all directly accessible from the bright and spacious dressing room that is curved to enable the coach to address all players.

From here, players walk upstairs to a separate boot-up area by the courtyard to prepare for training on nearby, immaculate Hotspur Way pitches specially set aside for teams staying at The Lodge.

Feyenoord Rotterdam:

From the Dutch forum: Although it is not completely finished yet (but it is close to being 100% ready), the first players of Feyenoord arrived today at the new training ground. To get themselves into shape early, even though the WC is just a small week underway. Better be ready in time must be there motto, which is the right attitude imho. The pictures show parts of the interior of the new training ground in the vicinity of the stadium.
