Pretty clear that we're in a new generation of (soccer) training facilities. Very impressive projects at Leicester, Feyenoord and Liverpool, with Tottenham's now completed facility perhaps the template for the new batch on the way.

Beginning in 2020, the Miami Dolphins might practice where they play. Here’s why

Sundays and football have been synonymous in Miami Gardens since Joe Robbie first opened the doors to his stadium back in 1987.

But beginning in 2020, the same might be true for the week’s other six days.

The Dolphins are considering moving their training facility to team-owned land just west of Hard Rock Stadium, multiple sources tell the Miami Herald.

The new complex would be privately funded and cost upwards to $75 million. It would be ready for use in two years and would give the Dolphins both the space they need and the proximity to Hard Rock that many in the organization desire.

Wayne Messam, Miramar’s mayor, announced in May a preliminary plan to allow the Dolphins to lease and develop a 21-acre plot of city-owned land between Everglades High and Glades Middle School.

That got the attention of Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert and Miami-Dade Commissioner Barbara Jordan, who made their own pitch to the team.

Miami Gardens might defray the cost of security in and around Hard Rock Stadium to help seal the deal, and Miami-Dade County could amend the existing stadium renovation agreement that pays the Dolphins a bonus for hosting major events.

Annual payouts from the county are currently capped at $5 million; those limits and the length of the deal could both go up, should the Dolphins move their headquarters to Miami Gardens. The current agreement runs through 2024.

.......

...Regardless if the Dolphins move to Miami Gardens, choose Miramar or stay and expand in Davie, a big upgrade to their football facility is coming. They simply have run out of space at Nova, as evidenced by the temporary trailers put up around the gated property.

That would not be a problem in Miami Gardens, where the team would build what executives characterize as a “cutting edge, first-class facility” that would be used not just by the Dolphins, but also by Super Bowl teams and even World Cup participants, should Miami be awarded games, as is expected.

The new facility is expected to include enhance fan amenities for training camp, including a grassy berm for seating plus seats within the indoor practice field. Additional features like a building for a sports medicine center are being considered as well.

But while a source says that there is cautious optimism a deal will be reached to move to Miami Gardens, work remains.

That has not stopped many in the county, like Bill Talbert, the CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, from getting excited.

So looks like we're getting concrete news after the 2026 World Cup blurb leaked! Personally I hope they choose the land near Hard Rock; it would be a real benefit to the team to have the sales/marketing group next door to the football people. And regarding the render above, while it's probably tentative as they still don't have their location locked down, you can see a LOT of influence from the new Dallas Cowboys facility, which shows where their inspiration lies:

gotta give Jerry credit, he's a trendsetter!

Feyenoord Rotterdam

A first picture has emerged from the second ground Feyenoord is building. They have recently opened the ground for the professional players which costs € 10 million. This (bigger) ground is for the Feyenoord Football Academy and the Amateur section of the club which badly need this new accommodation. It is budgeted at € 15 million.

More details, images and the map of the whole ground are expected to be released within the foreseeable time. The work has already started and the complex should be ready starting the 2019-2020 season.

Cardiff City could get permission to build new training ground this week

The Bluebirds want to build the new training ground, in the Vale of Glamorgan, on council-owned agricultural land south-west of Junction 34 of the M4.

Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Planning Committee will discuss the first part of the plans, which would include 15 pitches on land opposite Hensol Villas, on Thursday (July 26).

The club also wants to build a two-storey training centre in the middle of the new ground, with 123 car parking spaces, but this is subject to a separate planning application.

Vale of Glamorgan Council officers have advised the committee to approve permission for the 15 pitches, across a 44 acre site, subject to conditions.

The training centre, which will be decided on another date, would include a gym, pool, treatment rooms and dining rooms.

Ligue 1 side Paris-Saint Germain will take training grounds to a completely new level in 2020.

This center also has its very own 5,000 seater stadium which will host National 2, Women's Division 1, Women's Champions League and Youth League games.

It also includes a state of the art clubhouse which has its very own library and bookstore, because y'know, all those footballers need to read up on diving techniques and so on.

Here are some figures from the CulturePSG website and they are very impressive to say the least. This has the potential to be the best training facilities in the world.

13,000 m² of space and state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to the training and pre-training of the football section

140 players aged 13 to 19 in training / pre-training

9 football fields are dedicated to pre-training, training and football school, one of which is covered and closed. This equipment, one of the first in Europe, will allow training to be held whatever the weather conditions. Young players will also benefit from five-a-side football fields and tennis ball.
a space dedicated to sports training (training and recovery rooms, medical area, administrative offices and meeting rooms), a space dedicated to the schooling of the training (classrooms, computer room, laboratory, documentation center and information, teachers room, living areas, infirmary ...) and a space dedicated to accommodation.

So it's now official!

Quote:
Miami Dolphins to build ‘best-in-class’ training facility for $75M in Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS —
The “Davie” datelines attached to stories about the Miami Dolphins soon will disappear.

The Dolphins confirmed Tuesday that they’re moving their training facility from Nova Southeastern University to the grounds of Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, possibly as soon as the 2020 season.

Tom Garfinkel, vice chairman and CEO of the Dolphins, confirmed the project, which has long been speculated upon. He said the initial cost projection is $50 million but added that a more realistic bottom line probably is closer to $75 million to $80 million.

That’s in addition to more than a half-billion that owner Stephen Ross recently pumped into the stadium itself to bring it up to today’s standards.

“Facilities don’t win football games,” Garfinkel said. “People do. But I will say that having a great facility is indicative of the best-in-class organization that Steve Ross wants to have. And so this is the next step forward in that evolution and I think is important to creating the best environment we can for our players and our staff.”

The facility is ticketed for the northwest edges of the stadium grounds, off Northwest 27th Avenue. The Dolphins’ business operations already are at the stadium, so Garfinkel said bringing the football operations to the same location “creates communication opportunities” that currently don’t exist with the football players and coaches 11 miles north of the stadium on University Drive.

Garfinkel said the Dolphins are not dissatisfied with their current facility at Nova Southeastern.

“They’ve been great partners to us, so this is in no way a reflection of anything negative there whatsoever,” he said.

But the team has outgrown the facility since moving there in the early ‘90s. As an example, Garfinkel said the weight room initially may have consisted of “a bench press and a couple of bikes and some different things.” Now, the training staff has hot and cold tubs and underwater treadmills. It works with a sports science department that didn’t exist back then.

“So we’ve kind of run out of space,” Garfinkel said. “So the first thing it’s going to do is allow us to build a new, state-of-the-art facility that has enough space for these needs.”

From the announcement today, here is a render of how the new facility will fit within the larger Hard Rock Stadium "campus"

The huge investments that NFL-clubs and team in the Premier League can afford are out of our reach but today the official start of the works for the second new training ground at Feyenoord Rotterdam was started (even though the works are already going on for a couple of months). This ground is for the Feyenoord Football Academy and the Amateur Section "Sportclub Feyenoord".

This video shows the second complex which should be ready within a year and costs about € 15 million Euros. Together with the complex for the professional team which opened recently (almost € 10 million) the club has invested heavily into the real estate for the future. And we are now among the very best in The Netherlands with these facilities although the training grounds of Ajax are still a step ahead, but we don't have their kind of money to invest. That level should come gradually within our reach after the new stadium opens in presumably 2023. Hopefully the rewards of these decisions will come rather sooner than later for the club. We need it.

Video of the second training ground:

FC Cincinnati break ground on Mercy Health Training Center

The Mercy Health Training Center project, estimated to cost $30 million, will occupy approximately 24 acres and will serve as the base for the club’s soccer operations, including the MLS first team and future FCC Academy training and performance activities. Additional staff will be based in the Mercy Health Training Center to support the team’s daily operations at the complex.

The facility is expected to be fully operational in August 2019. The FCC first team will relocate to the complex in January 2019 and will utilize temporary team facilities at the site until the training complex is completed later in the summer. All construction is being privately financed by the club.

When completed, the Mercy Health Training Center will include three full-size, lighted soccer fields (two grass, one artificial turf), as well as a goalkeeper-specific training area. FC Cincinnati’s MLS team will be housed in a 30,000 sq. ft., multilevel building adjacent to the fields, while the FCC Academy teams will have their own facilities at the Mercy Health Training Center. Additionally, there will be a 3,000 sq. ft. maintenance facility on the property.

Fulham FC recently acquired the Former BBC Sports Ground at Motspur Park with the intention of developing a training complex for the First and Under-23 teams. The aim is that Fulham’s existing Motspur Park training facility will then become the base for the Academy teams and the Fulham FC Foundation.

Fulham FC strives to be a responsible neighbour and values the views of the local community. As such, residents of neighbouring properties were invited in on 13th and 15th September which allowed the proposals to be presented to the local community and for their views to be obtained. These views will now be taken on board by the design team ahead of the intended submission of a planning application later this year.

The ownership group looking to bring an expansion NHL team to Seattle unveiled plans Monday for a $70 million training facility in the northern part of the city.

NHL Seattle CEO Tod Lewieke announced the plans, which include three full-sized rinks and office space to serve as the headquarters for the proposed new franchise. The facility will have 180,000 square feet total and be located near Seattle’s Northgate Mall, which is being redeveloped. The location is a short walk from a new light-rail station set to open in a few years and has easy access to Interstate 5.
