Usually I'm too lazy to sign in and write a comment...but I just have to give praise to these engineering wonders. Let's hope no wars or disasters ever distroy those.

That's Miho museum pedestrian bridge..

The Miho Museum was designed by I.M. Pei specifically to house the Shumei Family art collection. The museum is located outside Kyoto in the mountains of Shiga Prefecture. Although no figures are given, no expense was spared to build the museum and to enlarge the collection as the construction was taking place. An entire mountain top was removed, the museum built and then buried and landscaped to look as the mountain originally did. You walk to the museum through a curved tunnel and then a unique suspension bridge. The collection is quite impressive, but so is the building itself.

I lived in rural Japan and did not get to see most of these engineurical marvels! I could kick myself for not travelling more often whilst there. Too scared to travel on my own I guess, as eglish is virtually non-existent in those parts of the world.
