That is a very strange design, with the main bridge having one side span suspended and the other not. Wouldn't that create unbalanced forces on the cables and towers?

Much needed bridge finally opens to traffic. The old Humen bridge has been operating at overcapacity for soooo long. The Shenzhong link is also progressing nicely which is great.

南沙大桥西起广州市东涌立交,上跨狮子洋入海口,东至东莞市沙田立交;大桥全长12.891千米;桥面为双向八车道高速公路,设计速度100千米/小时;工程项目总投资额111.8亿元。
Nansha Bridge (connecting Guangzhou Nansha District and Dongguan Shatian Town Bridge in Guangdong Province)
Nansha Bridge, formerly known as Humen Second Bridge, is a cross-river corridor connecting Guangdong Nansha District and Shatian Town of Dongguan City in Guangdong Province. It is located above the main stream of the Pearl River and is the western end of the Guangzhou-Longchuan Expressway. Partly; after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, another world-class bridge project in the Pearl River Delta.
The Nansha Bridge was started on December 28, 2013; Helong was completed on November 20, 2018; it was completed and opened to traffic on April 2, 2019.
Nansha Bridge starts from Guangzhou Dongyong Interchange, crosses the Lion Ocean into the sea, east to Dongguan Shatian Interchange; the bridge has a total length of 12.891 kilometers; the bridge is a two-way eight-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 km/h; The total investment amount is 11.18 billion yuan.
