Put simply, Sydney won't get a 100 story tower, so I'm going to pretend 100 stories doesn't matter.

Culwanker, over and out.

I'm pretty sure if you built a landmark building in any Australian city people would definitely take notice even if they don't normally care very much.

I just think Australia's first 100 storey building would be an attention grabber and it would become symbolic of progression, artistic flare, can do attitude and power. It's not just about numbers.

With all the speculation on a 100 storey tower for one of the east coast cities I say don't discard Perth which is the quiet underdog and could come out and surprise us all.
Perth is the next CBD to take off and grow so it might just make a statement and grab attention.

They could build it out of ivory.

Don't worry - Brad Hazzard will look after that with the council being told to "ease up".

One of Doyliey's recent campain pledges was to lobby for the transfer of power of influence over the approval provess from government to council.
But ill be shocked if any government would risk that move anytime soon.
So as it stands, council have no power to stop a project, they can blow alot of negative hot air but if the planning minister says yes, then its yes.

wouldnt be surprised for it to be either Brisbane or Melbourne. Brisbane seems to be the easiest to get approval for taller towers.

I think it'll be Brisbane or Melbourne. Outside chance for the Gold Coast. Then really outside chance Perth.

I'd say the Gold Coast wont be getting it for a while.

Melbourne looks like the best chance of getting a 100 level tower first. If they want to meet the goals for more workers and residents under proposed plans by the Victorian Government it will undoubtedly mean building higher.

If it was to be 100 stories - I'd love it to be mixed use with half office and half residential.

I'd love a mixed use office + hotel + apartment tower.

To think this Office, Apartment, Hotel was approved then didn't go ahead because of an argument about who pays for the extension of Collins St infrastructure. It would have been completed years ago and for a while been the tallest building in the world and maybe still have the Worlds tallest open observation deck on top accessed by glass external lifts up the corners of the Tower..........but guess Medibank campus building there now is a much better result : ( Tourists from around the world flock to it and take pics from Collins St. )

Yes, Melbourne came so close with pre-sales as well.

For that reason, I believe Melbourne and probably on the Crown carpark site in Southbank.

This actually has a very realistic chance.

If not Melbourne, then Brisbane or Gold Coast.
