This is LARRAKEYAH

I thought I would start a thread on LARRAKEYAH, Darwin's closest inner suburb. It sits on the City's north western border and is a hive of developments of up to 12 stories.

As new developments are proposed we can post them here as we watch this suburb become a trendy apartment living mecca.

Wish these types of buildings would come to Hobart, we need this sort of luxury. Wouldn't be surprised to hear that Darwin would be steaming past Hobart, development wise.

Anyway, great buildings! Do you have the size in Mtrs and Sq?

I'm pretty sure that the maximum height for Larrakeyah is equivalent to 10/11 levels above ground.

So can I ask what the impact of these apartments have on the area in terms of restaurant, cafes, shops etc. I would imagine they would foster a great tropical inner city vibe. If so pics?

The CULLEN BAY Estate which is in LARRAKEYAH is where approximately a dozen restaurants/cafes are, mostly situated on the marina. The part of LARRAKEYAH close to the CBD is walking distance to many good city restaurants.

Wow, great post!

6 Houston was a smack in the face!
Take away the vegetation, and it looks like a Modern housing commission hell hole.

Some of these buildings are showing their rears. The front of them are quite often overlooking parklands/golf course.

Perhaps they should have made the back of the buildings more attractive where they backed onto major streets and roads.
