Are the beams that sit above BHP's plant room counted in the 247m height ?
My initial thought is that the beams and spire above the plant room are more like "garnish" and that the height to the plant room should be height we measure by ala Deutsche Bank in Sydney, 120 Collins in Melbourne.
Thoughts ???

Love the tower by the way.

Seeing as we now seem to go by the international official heights in Australia, since Q1 came along, doesn't it mean it will replace 120 Collins as the tallest office building in the Southern Hemisphere?

i agree, the single stick just looks stupid but adding another would make it seem right for some reason imo. is the main structure at max height limit?

yeah if Q1 is dubbed the tallest cause of its spire, then we should be including this ones spire Seems unjust not to.

I doubt the glass will turn out that colour. I reckon it will actually look the same colour as the Quadrant (the building with LAVAN signing in the render).

Congrats Perth: I'm looking forward to seeing some different renders on this one - I'm not sure the angle we have been seeing looking into the plant room is the most advantageous.

Yeah i concur. 2 sticks would look far better, looks unbalanced with 1.

I reckon it looks great! Just need 2 sticks or none at all. 1 doesn't look right IMO.

Yeah what's with that? For years Rialto was known as Australia's tallest building even though 120 Collins was higher to top of spire. Then when Q1 comes along we suddenly decide to measure to top of spire? Can we just make up out mind?

Oh and I love BHP. It puts their world HQ to shame.

Not an antenna to my knowledge, prehaps you could call it a communications tower. Either way it's firmly part of the building's structure and is counted as so Emporis. As far as I know it is and was a design feature of the building, not something added on.

How a person could judge the proposed BHP stick to be structurally part of the building and therefore height inclusive, yet dismiss 120C's massive steel tower/spire as being simply an antenna and height exclusive is strange.

Even if one does dismiss 120C for some reason, 101 Collins is just across the road and it's spire is only 4m shorter. And 101C is most definitely not an antenna of any sort.

Neither are antennas... they're both spires and both counted....

Great addition to Perth's stagnant skyline, and thoroughly modern and contemporary! I wouldn't count that spire as it's true height, though.

BTW that pic of Melbourne above is just excellent! Notice the quality of the smaller buildings and shopping areas scattered throughout the city. This is what Brisbane is aiming for with our massive facelift of our own cbd, albeit with a different character and flavour. Lovely lovely Melbourne.
