^nothing relates to westfield in whole area, so it doesnt matter. westfiled ignores everyone around them. this tower will enhance the area.

Should reconcile with the upcoming Civic project.

One reason it doesn't seem to fit with Westfield is because it is a much more interesting and cleverer design, so I think it's a good thing. The environment needs to be worth fitting in with if it is to be a consideration.

I agree. Most major shopping centres are concrete bunkers anyway.

Novotel Brighton Beach is proposing to built a second tower with 200 rooms.
It's 16 storeys tall.

Looks to be 16 storeys tall

2010 is shaping to be a big year for Sydney.

We Have the following under construction and that figure is quite good given recent economic conditions.

1. 420 George
2. Space
3. 720 George
4. The Hyde
5. ARK (North Sydney)
6. Westfield Sydney redevelopment
7. Darling Walk Towers
8. 163 Castlereagh Street - about to begin with demolition of buildings on site.
9. Meriton Capitol
10. Star City Casino redevelopment
11. Hyde Park Residences
12. Meriton project (North Sydney)
13. Sugardock (Pyrmont)
14. Stamford Residences
15. UTS Expansion

And don't forget we have TWO major urban renewal projects commencing construction this year.

1. Barangaroo
2. CUB Redevelopment

That should keep Sydneysiders busy during the year.

The towers at Chatswood wont be built for sometime, also there are the legal issues associated with accquiring the last three properties for Civic Place which is holding the entire project up.

Still, I don't understand why they cannot proceed with the other smaller sections where everything is ready to be demolished while they finalise the rest of the site accquisitions elsewhere.

Wow, we've been waiting for those for what already seems like an eternity. Hate how some things here just never gets done. Just hope it's better late than never.

Great to see the others getting the green light though. I'll be watching them eagerly, especially Barangaroo and those Burwood towers.

What's happening with Metro Chatswood??
I have seen some renders and thought it looks good but that project seems to have stalled?

It will be a big DECADE not just year for Sydney...there are a number of smaller high rise UC at them moment, with bigger projects such as Barangaroo, Fraser's Broadway, the APDG Site, 163 Castlereagh Street all looking promising as well as the potential construction of others like 115 Bathurst Street, Richard Johnson Square etc etc.

Then there are the potential overhauls of city streets, none more so than George Street with potential light rail and pedestrianisation...squares are possible at Central Station, Town Hall and Circular Quay. Pitt Street Mall is getting an upgrade and will be the retail centre of the country again by 2012 with the completion of Westfield Sydney and Mid City Centre...

UTS has Frank Gehry working on a new iconic building as well. The proposed Sydney Metro, sinking of the Cahill Expressway and Central Rail lines have also been mentioned and will cause a lot of controversy (either way).

This will be an exciting decade in Sydney's history and the city is bound to emerge from it very well

The three squares Cirqular Quay, Town Hall and Central. Will be great for city life and open space, aswell as markets.

The 5 things that will be substantial in this decade, will be the CBD Metro, Barangaroo, Town Hall Square, Central Square and Darling Harbour.

Central Square and Darling Harbour im unsure about, meaning unsure if they'll occur this decade that is.

There is also the three tower project in Elsie Street. I see that crane just standing there with nothing done for the past two years. The office component was completed in 2008, which forms the podium for the towers.

I just hope real work begins on it, even if it is just one of the towers to start with.
