Just up and across the street from the current Delaware Y there is land for sale that meets the criteria for the new Y:

It has access from both Colvin and Delaware, has plenty of room for parking, and is available today.

Too bad the Y didn't go into the Gates site like originally talked about. Taking over the K-Mart site would be a win. There's also the former airplane plant that was demo'd near Home Depot. If done right, Uniland's property would work too. I thought Uniland would go higher density there and create a new neighborhood but the People building seems to set the stage that it isn't happening.

Other news/observations:

It looks as if most of the derelict buildings have been cleared adjacent to Scajaquada Creek near Buff State - former City Impound Lot area

The rear portion of the Grid on Main is up to 4 floors now.

I visited Austin, Texas for the first time yesterday and I gotta say, the campus area of UT Austin really makes you wonder why UB is not entirely downtown. The amount of vitality surrounding that place, even on a Sunday was amazing. It reminded me a little bit like the Elmwood Village around the campus, and it had a City Target that really meshed well with the area.

I found many similarities between this campus and Buff State, but this campus is 5 times bigger.
