Put on the 4th floor today. Activity is very heavy on all sides. Nye's crane is left center.

What an awesome addition to this side of the river! Can't wait to see how this changes the landscape of the area!

Is it me just not remembering, or was there no opposition to this project? Was it because of the lower height or where the location of the project is?

Was there any mention of what may happen on the northern half of the block? Looking on the cam the two main buildings only cover about half the site.

I think they talked about a second phase originally, but I don't know that they ever had any drawings or anything like that done up. I understood it to be another tower, but no specifics. I always assume "phase 2" means we'll eventually sell the land because it will increase in value due to phase 1.

I thought there was a concept for Phase II that was really similar to Phase I. Maybe I'm wrong... but I thought that was the case.

From an article on MARCH 31, 2015

Quote:
Documents recently submitted to the city say a second phase could have another tower with up to 30 floors as many as 490 apartments surrounded by up to 75,000 square feet of commercial space including but not limited to retail, restaurants, and office space.
Phase 1 is 20 floors - 257 units - 22,000sq ft commercial space

Quote:
According to documents submitted to the city, phase one should be underway this fall and completed two years later. Phase two is expected to start when phase one is complete.

Almost half way up. I froze my "censored" off to take this photo but when I saw the light I had to walk over.

Thanks for freezing your unmentionables off for our sake! It's nice to see this one progressing at a pretty good pace!

Will this project be visible from 35W?

You can see the crane now, so I believe you will be able to, but only from the bridge I believe.

NORD HAUS | 218 ft | 20 stories | Northeast

You'll be able to see it a little bit from 35W by the Quarry...

I really like the retail space along Hennepin in this project. It will add more pedestrian activity, and creates a better sense of continuity with the street level retail in the blocks nearby. A big gap filled!

Having the space is one thing, let's hope they fill it up with a good mix!

I know this is only 20 stories tall, but it will be a nice addition to the other side of the river. Even if you'll be able to see some of it off the 35W bridge I think it'll add to that great view.

They need to make the rent somewhat affordable if they want to attract retailors in a timely way. Otherwise, it will stand vacant for years a la Nic on Fifth. And hopefully there will be some independently owned shops geared towards city people. I would hate to see a bunch of suburban chain stores come in and ruin the urban vibe of the neighborhood.

This thing is really starting to make an impact. I can see it prominently driving into Minneapolis on I-35W in the mornings!

Went into NE Downtown (lets be honest, this area is a downtown extension) last friday evening, and this building makes a big imprint on the area. For only 20 stories it's going to loom large. I can't imagine what 200 or even the Mortenson tower will do.
