The NFL should just put the SF option out of its misery.

Oracle is too small, a poor stadium for football, in an area where the locals don’t want more traffic and rowdiness, the Mayor is opposed, and there are security issues before and after every game. I'm not sure what the NFL is thinking.

Plus it puts money into the coffers of a baseball team instead of an NFL team.

EDIT: Sorry, I finally notice that sanity is restored and Oracle Park is off the table (at least for now).

If the Chargers can play at stubhub, Anything has to be an option for a year right?

Why not Sam Boyd?

It makes the most sense if you want to hit the ground running in Vegas.

Portland? A new candidate!

SD was presumably nixed by the NFL who is trying to give the Chargers every chance to succeed in LA. And it's hard to imagine the Rams would have been interested in the competition either. The logistics are also much worse than Oakland or Levi's, which appear to be the only remaining candidates.

That was written-off long ago. The amount of money spent to bring it to NFL standards is apparently too much considering that it will be torn down as soon as the LV stadium is complete.

You also have to believe that Davis and the NFL don't want their grand entry into LV to take place there.

Chances are they won't be playing in an NFL-caliber stadium next year anyway.

Do we really need to go down the list of relocating or expansion franchises that played in temporary venues "not up to league standards?"

True, but here we have a completely NFL ready location that is near their fan base, near their current facilities and with extra NFL-style locker rooms already built-in. All within easy driving distance for their fans. Plus revenues go to another NFL team.

What is there to discuss leaving aside Davis' dislike of the 49ers?

Don't despair SF fans: you can still bet on the Raiders playing at Oracle in spite of Mayor Breed's silly interference.

Corrected link (I hope)

https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/ra...ome-games-2019

Some of these odds are really hard to fathom since only multiple earthquakes, fires and alien landings could get anyone to go there.

Otherwise (surprise, surprise) it appears the Raiders and NFL are talking about settling the antitrust suit as part of a lease deal. This seemed like the main purpose of the suit since it is unclear how leaving a crappy stadium at the end of your lease is an antitrust issue. The NFL is clearly a cartel but leaving a sewage-infested stadium is not an act in restraint of trade as far as I can see.

In any event, it’s nice to have Levi’s there to keep Oakland (a little bit) honest.

How come Earthquakes stadium was never considered? One NFL team already play in an MLS stadium.

It's small. You wouldn't play there if Levi's or the Coliseum is available. The idea is not to maximize the number of small stadiums; it's to minimize it.

In any event, as I recall neither the Rose Bowl or Coliseum was available. The choices for the Chargers were Dodger Stadium and Angel Stadium and those venues were not interested in the trouble involved. So Carson was the best choice available.

Well, Raiders have a bigger fanbase in the Bay Area than the Chargers in LA for one. So demand would necessitate a bigger stadium.

But even if they were interested in Avaya, it's a different situation to LAG. LAG is owned by AEG, and probably doesn't have too many issues with maximizing use of stadium. Avaya is owned and operated by the Earthquakes, which would automatically be a bigger headache potentially.

Either way, it makes sense for Raiders to work their way down stadiums in terms of capacity.

An end of an era. Once A's stadium is built, only one stadium will have BP in the foul territory.

And even that I don't know how long it will last.

To be fair, most minor league parks have bullpens on the field. Sure, said stadiums have smaller real estate, but the practice probably won't go away soon.
