if you have a close look at the bar infront of the team america, there all chained with a loop. just like BridgeClimb. ive done BridgeClimb and you dont notice the restricted chain.the walkway goes right around tower with another lookout facing south.
i think the experience will cost maybe $90?
maybe something you should do once.

I'm sure it will be a rip off. I think its $22 at the moment for the ob deck. I've had friends visit recently and I reckon Australia Square is a better bet, it costs about $8 for a beer at the summit restaurant, sure its not as high...but you get a beer.

^yeah Summits ok being only 153m high you get a dif perpective of the city. your more at "waist" level instead of head hieght.
but another 100m higher in syd tower . you have to pay more . thats life.

gargarensis-
not sure but most are "indoor" as opposed to outdoor. Sydney towers 260m height isnt that impressive to world ob decks but surely it must rank one of the best? glass floor hanging over roof. wow factor!
Not only are you located in direct centre of the cBD but you at a perfect hieght. not too high or not too low.
I think anthing above 350m is silly. you dont actually see much because your up so high.
ESB is at 320m & 380m.

list of highest ob decks
Burj Dubai-lev160/640m? UC
CN Tower-330m/445m
sears tower-412m (107th)
Jakarta tower-410m UC
taipei 101-392m (89th)?

Oriental pearl tower/Shanghai-350m/263m/259m
jin mao tower/Shanghai-lev88/340m
Ostankino tower-337m

Eureka-330m? uc
John hancock-314m (95th)?
esb-320/375m?
surely theres more.?

thnx cul for the response, yeah i think i meant "outdoor" instead of "open"... so are those ob decks above, all outdoor or indoor? i know that esb's deck is outdoor, tho.

none are outdoor. only Eurekas and ESB as you said. i think the 492m Shanghai World Finance centre will have highest outdoor deck at approx 440m. this is what its website says. i dont even know if its uc or what. on off again project?lol
Eurekas is pushing it as a observation deck. its more like a "ride" come climb. you will have to be suited up and chained. but it will be outdoor and exposed to elements. not sure if weather will play a major role in its access? i reckon winds and rain will close it.only open for nice still weather.
cheers

If you count that as an outdoor observation deck then you have to start counting all the rides on top of Stratosphere in Las Vegas, the tallest of which goes to 330m. The Rollercoaster is at 277m.

aptly named "Insanity" ride

330m high Bigshot.
compressed air shoots victims up 80kmph.

i love the idea but it makes the tower look so uneaven and unbalanced with that platform sticking out.

obviously the new skywalk has more to it then that platform. there will be another platform facing south and also the boardwalk will encircle the whole turret. so long way to go yet.

They should do something to the facade of Sydney Tower. It's getting very old and dirty.

Those rides in Vegas are sooo much fun. U would be suprised how much u dont see from ground level. The ride that goes over the edge like a see saw looks small from the ground and is hardly noticeable, infact wat they are building on centrepoint is more visible. They should have just built that ride instead of the platform cause its really fun and the views are amazing. Its the biggest rush, much more than standing on a platform, especially when only a lap bar is holding u in.(it is however extremely safe and there is no way u could fall).
The rides havent wrecked the tower, they arent very visible, the tower wasnt that nice in the first place and also its vegas.

I have been on Bigshot... what a rush. One of the most exciting rides I have been on.

I would agree the rides on the stratosphere are not that noticeable - the building has been cleverly designed and the shape of the turret hides a certain amount above the observation decks. The stratosphere is taller and newer and IMO a better designed tower. Yeah sure its tacky and we wouldn't want rides all over Sydney tower... I think a ride like bigshot however is not very impacting and can be totally disguised into the structure of the tower and still keep the symmetry of the tower intact.

Taken yesterday with my new camera (sorry Milux, I thought sod the paperwork).

All images are cropped from the orginal 8MP pictures. Sorry for the size, I thought the detail was more important.
