i like this project because Emaar holds a big stake in it ( typical Dubai(ian)) and because it will cover most of UAQ's empty land plots ( typical again)

Construction of the pioneering AlSalam City project begins

Construction of Umm Al Quwain's epic development AlSalam City has been initiated.

Construction of Umm Al Quwain's epic development AlSalam City has been initiated.

Tameer Holding, the region's leading real estate firm, recently commenced the process of rough grading the area that will soon play host to one of the region's most advanced cities.

With this early phase of the development estimated to be completed before the end of the year, AlSalam City promises to be a metropolis that will revolutionize the quiet landscape of Umm Al Quwain; providing a world-class infrastructure supporting numerous suburban neighborhoods, business districts and a large 'Down Town' entertainment area.

'We have a long road ahead of us, so I am pleased that we have begun these preliminary stages of construction' said Ali Al Khudairi, CEO of Tameer Holding. 'AlSalam City is symbolic of the continued advancement of the UAE as a whole and comes after a long line of innovative developments that continually push back the boundaries of what is considered possible.'

Spanning an area of approximately 220 million square feet, this residential and commercial development has been critically praised as an architectural triumph and is the first of its kind for the emirate. At a cost exceeding USD 8.3 billion, the groundbreaking development is situated between the Emirates Road and the Pan-Emirates Road currently under construction. Designed to house up to half a million residents with an area that will include parks, playgrounds, entertainment centers and cable car facilities, AlSalam City's futuristic design has drawn much international attention from foreign investors and is expected to greatly enhance the position of Umm Al Quwain on the international map.

'The estimated time for the completion of the rough grading is six months, and akin to the recently completed Emirates Modern Industrial Area, we envisage that our schedule for the fruition of this entire project will go according to plan. By 2020 Umm Al Quwain is going to be an Emirate that can rival any other location throughout the Eastern and perhaps even the Western Hemisphere.'

Formed through a strategic partnership between Al-Rajhi Investment Group & Tameer Property Establishment, Tameer Holding had entered the thriving UAE property market with the world's tallest tower "Princess Tower", located in Dubai Marina, the Dana 1 & Dana 2 projects in International City, Al Shahd in the International City, Al Diyad in Dubai Silicon Oasis, The Regal Tower in Business Bay, AlSalam City in Umm Al Quwain, and Al Ameera Village in Ajman. Today, the firm's investment portfolio in the market totals AED 40 billion.

Tameer sponsors Riyadh Real Estate and Architectural Development Expo

[Sunday, May 7, 2006 3:29:00 pm]

The region's leading real estate developer, Tameer Holding is to partake in and sponsor the 9th Riyadh Real Estate and Architectural Development Exhibition being held in the Saudi Arabian capital from the 7th to the 12th May 2006. The event has been designed to publicize Middle Eastern and international property development, showcasing the most advanced and stylish developments across the region and the world.

Tameer's participation at this event comes after their contribution to a string of high profile real estate exhibitions worldwide. Since the beginning of 2006 the company has been involved in the Dubai Property Show in Dublin, the MIPIM in Cannes and most recently, the Moscow based exhibition Realtex last month.

As with many other industries operating out of the GCC, there is currently a boom in property development. The UAE real estate market has been thriving due to its newly liberalized property laws, while simultaneously becoming increasingly recognizable worldwide through the construction of many iconic developments. One such development is the AED 30 Billion Umm Al Quwain based AlSalam City, a project that will be the center piece of the Riyadh Real Estate exhibition.

'Tameer are recognized as one of the leaders in the Middle Eastern real estate market as a consequence of some of the groundbreaking projects being developed here.' said Mr. Ali Al Khudairi, CEO of Tameer Holding. 'Developments like the recently launched AlSalam City and the newly completed Emirates Industrial Area both in Umm Al Quwain are quality projects of a tremendous size that we are proud in telling the world about.'

In addition to the Umm Al Quwain based projects, Tameer will also be promoting the 'Princess Tower', which is recognized as one of the regions tallest buildings featuring 107 floors of luxury apartments, offices, sales outlets, and recreational clubs and the town sized development Al Ameera Village; a fashionable development that covers approximately 500,000 square feet.

'2006 has been a landmark year for Tameer, so we are proud that we are the Gold Sponsors of this prestigious event being held in Riyadh allowing us to further contribute to the growth of Region through property development.' said Mr. Ali Al Khudairi.

Formed through a strategic partnership between Al-Rajhi Investment Group & Tameer Property Establishment, Tameer Holding had entered the thriving UAE property market with the world's tallest tower "Princess Tower", located in Dubai Marina, the Dana 1 & Dana 2 projects and Al Jawzaa in International City, Al Shahd in the International City, Al Diyad in Dubai Silicon Oasis, The Regal Tower in Business Bay, AlSalam City in Umm Al Quwain, and Al Ameera Village in Ajman. Today, the firm's investment portfolio in the market totals AED 40 billion.

Al-Salam City gets started
CONSTRUCTION UAE
12 May 2006

A local joint venture of the Al-Jaber Group and a company identified as Al-Jiffen has begun rough grading works for the first phase of the Al-Salam City project in Umm al-Qaiwain (MEED 17:2:06).

Phase 1 is scheduled for completion by 2008, and comprises the entire city’s infrastructure, a downtown area with one of the federation’s largest shopping malls, 20 residential and commercial towers each of about 20 storeys, a residential district with 1,000 villas and 200 buildings ranging from five-10 storeys. It will also include a 50-storey luxury hotel.

The new city will create housing for 500,000 people and require $8,300 million of investment. Foreign nationals will be able to buy property in the project on a 99-year leasehold basis.

Dubai-based Artech Projects Consultants & Management is the concept designer. The client is Sharjah-based Tameer, which is 50 per cent owned by Saudi Arabia’s Al-Rajhi Group.

sometimes i feel that such a project needs more thinking and to be built on phases instead of a single phase to avoid risks
