Piling works were completed last week and the programme moves immediately to the ground works and getting pile caps tied in together. The programme has NOT stopped or stalled in any way.

The only difficulty on site, is where to put the rig as it has finished ahead of programme and the City will not allow a road closure to allow the low loader to come in and take it away!

The project is fully funded to Practical Completion. There is zero reason to be skeptical.

In the article it says they manage construction projects
Interserve have NOTHING to do with this project and there will be zero contamination from the subsequent fall-out. The project does not involve any of the Interserve sub-chain.

Planning Conditions are signed off immediately by the Council as formal applications are received. There is nothing outstanding that prevents the development from advancing.

Thank you for the insight into this project HH2018, it is calming the nerves of us Leeds forumers who have seen too many great projects stall and collapse.

When you've lived in Leeds your whole life they're is good reason to take each development with the smallest bit of skepticism, but thank you for the updates, it shows we should maybe have more confidence in our beloved city 🙂

great to hear positive news.... we all need to chill a bit and not think of the failures of past years. I don't think Leeds is in that position anymore with many developers now actively looking for new sites or finalising developments on sites which we know are moving forward this year

What people need to understand is this is student accommodation and it’s a proven money stream.

@HH

Your updates are always much appreciated.

As developers, how have you chaps found dealing with LCC in comparison to other authorities?

Subliving.

The tower crane is to be erected in April 19 according to documents submitted online. It will come down in August 2020.

At that rate, we should expect the core to top out before the end of the year right?

Looking at the site plan (on the crane condition document), those piles look to be about where the crane is to be positioned, close to the north-west corner of the site, angled away from the rear perimeter.

Of interest to engineers , the loads from the crane onto the foundation are quite substantial: 1,600kN vertical load in service (1,416kN when not in use), up to 311kN horizontal load, and a massive turning moment of 18,703kNm - wow! Even the point where the crane is tied to the building exerts up to 476kN (that's about 48 Tonnes in mass terms).
