Medyo mountainous nga. Pero merong daan sa gitna from CDO to Davao, which might be the reason why pa-"S" din yung original government plan. Yun nga lang parang plateau ata yun. Actually mas may sense yung original government proposal since sinusundan niya lang yung terrain ng Mindanao. Sayang lang kasi I think dapat i-connect yung CDO and Davao muna as they are one of the richest cities in Mindanao. Then, CDO-Iligan-Zamboanga and Tagum-Davao-Gen Santos.

Pede silang dumiretso sa Zamboanga City through Zamboanga Sibugay via Ipil/Pagadian yun nga lang gagawa sila ng mga tunnels para makatagos sa mga bulubundukin ng Zambo Sibugay/Del Sur.


Malaki talaga potential ng Mindanao kaso yung armed conflict lang talaga sumisira.

Tingin ko isang malaking balakid sa pagpapagawa ng railway sa luzon ay yung business interests ng mga mayayaman at politiko. Sa common station pa nga lang di na magkasundo dahil sa lintek na business interest ng mga Ayala. Paano pa kaya sa iba pang proposed railway project.

Sa outside metro manila naman, nilolobby yata ng mga bus companies na wag ipagawa ang railway dahil malulugi sila.

You forgot most of Mindanao's problems

>All types of private armies (ampatuan clan, etc clan)
>Extortion from huge families, clans, political families, datu 1, datu 2, datu 3 etc.

Creating a ROW or even owning a land in central Mindanao is already a headache. Too much extortions from private individuals and families.

Just imagine, one bomb can destroy a rail and it could lead to a catastrophic event. Perfect examples are NGCP's transmission towers.

Goodluck to the private sector who will manage this railway if this will push thru.

^ uso pa naman yung hagisan ng granada at taniman ng IED kapag wala kang lagay sa mga grupo na dinaanan ng project mo. Kaya maraming roads project sa mindanao ang matagal matapos na kailangan pa ng military escort para makapaggawa dahil sa mga lintek na mga makasariling tao/grupo

It's also a national reserve, occasinal home of the saltwater crocs. Maybe the crocs can take care of the MILF and BIFF.

Eh? MRR/PNR was running fine up to when Pinatubo blew up. The glory days of the MRR/PNR was in the 50s-60s. You must be too young to even remember that. Arroyo did try albeit in very small steps, but of course politics go in between. Other than squatters, in Luzon you have to deal with certain vested big interests.

These vested interests are the major obstruction to the macro development of the country. Some more,

-Clark airport
-Moving shipping to Subic and Batangas ports
-Development of Kalibo airport instead of Caticlan
-Panay railway
-BRT fiasco
-Lifting foreign restrictions

We can name more and we can name names but we already know. Even on SSC there are the trolls and apparatchiks of these vested interests. Unless they can get a cut of the action, they will keep putting up obstructions. And these vested interests have shallow pockets, compared to int'l corporations, in a global economic stage, they're just s.m.e's or even micro businesses. Time to change the protectionist constitution.

For the most part yes. Right now, IMO Duterte is playing "ball" with the oligarchs, not upsetting the cart too much until they can change the constitution. But taking away the restriction or raising the limit for foreign owners to even just 60% (not even outright 100%) will turn the tables around. The foreign owners will have control over the corporation and whatever project. It will open up to more foreign ventures where all the entities come together and actually commit capital according to their share. One fine example, read about the PIATCO and Terminal 3 mess.

I do hope though that the amending of the constitution will push through. I heard PGMA atempted at it before, but due to the Congress literally consisting of career politicians bought up by lobbyists, oligarchs, and vested interests in NCR and Luzon, she didn't succeed.

Both Ramos and GMA failed because they tried to revise the constitution in their later years, bringing up suspicions of term extensions. Erap though did try to change it early in his term, but vested interests kicked him out.
