the old "tier 2" contractors are now emerging big time. Tier 1 is now only WBHO, Stef stocks stefanuti and to a degree concor (old M&R). Grinaker been bought out by a BEE firm and jury out. Tier 2s are coming up big time . GVK-Siya Zama, Tiber, trencon (in a technical merger with WBHO) , arch stone, arkane, abbydale ,Barrow, enza etc in Joburg space but similar in the big cities with their tier 2 contractors. All now 51% or more BEE ownership and most if not all Tier 2s listed doing over Billion a year in turn over

Oceans uMhlanga Development Resumes
04/09/2019

Contruction workers are currently busy on site of the Oceans uMhlanga development, as contruction has now resumed, after being halted as of October last year. This will be the largest mixed use development in South Africa and will consist of the Raddison Blu hotel, 600 apartments and a mall. The estimated completion date of the mall is currently set for the first quarter of 2021, with the estimated completion date of the Raddison Blu hotel apartments set as September 2020.

Interesting. This sector will provide a nice case study in a decade or two
