Thanks for the info B78 but it doesnt mean they cant start archeoligical works and we were told they would be putting the tender out in the summer so its no surprise there isnt a contractor on board right now. Things could be going on behind the scenes and at least we now have a site ready to go when they are ready.

These were the views of the new demolition from the no 5 bus. Going around Park Street onto Digbeth.

The only section left untouched.

I heart Art posters

Building behind the billboard has been demolished.

Indeed it was rumoured this is out for tender and a London based company either were marketing or were due to start marketing apartments for the site. ...not sure how true either of those bits of info are but the fact the demolition continues and planning permission on the site runs out in 9 months may suggest it's make or brake for this one...

Thanks for sharing but what does this mean sorry ?
That from Park Street to the cold store there will be a path, not sure exactly where or the width of it, and as others have said it doesn’t stop an archaeological dig from taking place.

If this tower is going to be an apartment building, it's going to have to be built on a bloody great big podium, because who is going to buy an apartment facing on to the arse end of a multi-storey car park?!?!?!?

Is it not normal that any apartments in a mixed use tower are built right at the top with the offices on the lower floors?

Yeah the tower will comprise offices and apartments (if it's ever built that is) and if I remember correctly, offices are to be at the bottom and apartments at the top

The fact that it's supposed to be mixed use tower i'm pretty sure of, it was explicitly written in Post and other websites.

As to whether offices or apartments are to be at the bottom half, I've come to my conclusion based on one of the renders where you see a middle class professional couple on a balcony overseeing the city, as it appears they're quite high up

But the planning application was approved so i'm sure it must have included all these details right?

it will have 125 apartments, each with its own private winter garden (CGI above), and shops at ground floor level alongside the office element.

The tower is going to be right here so any apartment ain't going to be a million miles away from the multistorey car park .... even if they are looking down on it!

What do you think?

Maybe someone at Broadway Malyan knows about this, as the Post article ref them as the architect - Iíve scanned their website but couldnít find Beorma down as a project, the only ref was to someone who was working on it, but that might have been a very long time ago:

Just out of interest is anyone else completely bored of this project already?

If we heard tomorrow that this was cancelled I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest. It's dragged on for so long with numerous designs that have come to nothing. The refurb of the cold store is great, however, that carbuncle on the corner is an insult to Digbeth and to architecture. I'd hate to see later phases made with dirt cheap materials.

Agreed, as I think all of us know that this is very unlikely itís going to ever be built. I just donít think they have the cash to build it.

Most likely be sold off in the next 6/12 months
