Why are they retaining the facade? There is nothing amazing about it.

The site where the scheme will be built is known as Beorma Quarter, which takes its name from the first settlement of Birmingham during the Anglo-Saxon period.

Part of the development will be a 30-storey office building, the tallest in the city. The development of such a large office building hints at the increasing number of companies looking to relocate out of London."

You may be correct, but the article is suggesting a 'stand alone' office tower with other buildings alongside.
Unless the plan is revised, the lower floors are to be office and the upper resin, the different floor size can be seen on the renders. But I hope it is all office!

We've had these type of announcements roughly every 6 months, I'm afraid I remain sceptical, but desperately want to be proved wrong.

All of the renders we've seen before, and I think there are at least 3 versions, we can probably ignore. I think there will be a new design for the tower released in the coming weeks. This is only a 'hunch', however.

Only one has planning permission, the one some people have posted recently, this is for office and residential. But who knows? Until they actually start putting spades in the ground we are still only guessing.
The wording of 30 storie office tower was used even before the latest render in the Birmingham East side master plan document which someone did post a pdf of on one of these forums. Things are often speculative, and often change. The fact we have hope for a tower at all is good.

Be careful what you wish for. You might end up with something like the canary yellow hotel down the street.

I choose Birmingham just tweeted this and a link to the Beorma Quarter website. Definitely looks like a press release has been going round as a few different papers have mentioned it now.

https://beormaquarter.com

Plans for the tallest office building in Birmingham are to be announced today.

Nice find mw.

The signs have been there for a while and it looks like this is finally gearing up for a start.

Great news. Could this possibly start in the Summer along with so many others.

https://beormaquarter.com

Looking at the website, there is a page on Digbeth regeneration where they mention other sites such as Connaught Square and Smithfield but does anybody know what site SITA/BCC depot is and what is also planned at Great Barr Street?

Is it? Or is it the architects saying it will be a mixed use tower? It even says on the new Beorma website how many apartments are being built as part of phase two. I don't know what details they're planning on revealing today but it looks to me like we're getting the 30 storey mixed use tower that already has planning permission.

Indeed. No new cgi on the website, just the office/apartment mixed use one.
