^ no, sydney has meriton to blame for meritonia - the most hideous nasty lots of development in the nation! cul, you cannot produce an un-biased piece of commentary about meriton unless you show meritonia for what it is. but yes, there may have been signs of improvement over recent years (as the well picked photos show) but they still gave us meritonia!

^ true, and there's some fine examples happening out in green square (vic park). you have to pity those on the meriton side of wolli creek though. and if only it was possible to pull down meritonia and start again, but alas, strata laws make that close to impossible at the moment.

agreed...signs of improvement (much like CE in Melbourne) but mostly pretty vulgar.

Just a few corrections:

Sydney

- Rex House was not built by Meriton, however;
- Millennium Tower was. For some reason I couldn't find it on Emporis?

Chatswood

- The Chelsea was not built by Meriton, however;
- Leura and High Park Tower both were.

St Leonards

- The Oasis was also built by Meriton.

Bondi Junction

- Trevillion Apartments were also built by Meriton.

Parramatta

- Westport Apartments were also built by Meriton.

Gold Coast

- Trilogy was not built by Meriton.

Plus, Meriton is responsible for numerous other towers in Hurstville, Hornsby, Strathfield, Rockdale, Maroubra...the list goes on!

Not a big fan of Meriton and dont think Soleil will turn out to be spectacular, but just another average building that will age quickly. Not a fan of World Tower either.

Really?! What about Mosaic or the whole of Crown Square? The council's refusal to approve the Victoria Square proposals also suggests that they don't think Meriton are too excellent either.

Meriton will get an architect to design them a nice building when forced to, but the architect only designs the outside. They get their own in-house "architects" to do the interiors, and it's obvious - the layouts makes no sense and are full of unusable pokey little areas that serve no purpose other than to increase the number of square metres they can advertise.

The workmanship is still shoddy and materials still cheap, too. In the Meriton Tower apartment I visited there were chunks of concrete under the carpet, bits of the skirting boards not painted... it was just so obvious that they don't give a shit.

You've got to be f&8(^% kidding me. Beloved???Pleeease...only you cul ya freak. These guys are CE of Sydney. I'll admit that some of the later stuff is better. The best thing they did was hire some real architects from Melbourne. Soleil is meh *yawn* but brisbanes meriton is really good.

Crown Square is probably some of the most uninspiring shite design you could ever hope for. I'm mean look at that crap on the top left and mid right.....looks like a hospital... from the 1970's. just ghastly.

That's what worries me about Meriton apartments. They look okay from distance but if you take a closer look, you'll find unfinished paiting, cracks on the wall, render comming off, big gap around window frames, etc etc... really horrifying.

Heaps in Rhodes too. It's easy to pick Meriton apartments because they always use the same cheap material.

I am glad you beat me to starting this thread Cul.

I wouldnt regard Meriton as 'beloved', they still have a long way to go to earn a good reputation. While the quality of towers have improved, many of their towers especially in suburban areas are still $2 jobs.

Dean, I agree with you on the first stage of the Crown Towers development. Keep in mind that the 6 storey building on South Dowling Street is the heritage listed ACI Building. They are shockers. The quality has improved. I recently drove through the middle of the development and Meriton have bothered to put more effort.
