I'll post it again:

Meriton specialises in apartments for landlords who want to rent it out to international students who will sleep on top of each other and degrade their dignity to save bucks on accommodation cost. World Tower is more like an overcrowded international student motel full of vile unhygienic international students who prefers to sleep on hallways than get a proper rental housing. Many apartments in the suburbs should be condemned as public housing.

Meriton should stay the hell away from Barangaroo! Every Meriton apartments built have a negative property value price 100m in radius for its ugliness. Nobody wants a view of Mumbai slumtown.

I feel daring and radical for agreeing with you. But then diplomacy was never really my thing.

They might be better than they were, but Meriton apartments are still cheap and tacky. Go to one of the real estate sites and compare the interiors of apartments in World Tower (there are plenty for sale at the moment) with those of, say, Lumiere.

It's very hard for the owner's corporation to get anything done when a large number of votes are held by disinterested investors (whose main interests are high rents and low strata levies) and/or Meriton themselves. Regis Towers is a perfect example of this.

It is the tallest in Hurstville - 20 storeys

The Orchid

The Belleviue

I have no photos of The Gateway apartments which is another project in the same suburb.

meriton started with blond brick highrise . they started to paint and decorate them. post 2000 they now only use concrete panels. must be a quciker and cheaper option
much more actractive now.

It's just like any product you buy from an established business. In the establishment phase, money and resources are limited. As the money comes in, and production techniques increase (construction methods in Meritons case), you can build with better materials.

Those who may remember driving early model Toyotas - they werent the best quality cars around but those today are amongst the most superior.

Precast can be cheaper than brick construction.

The last 2 demonstrate where Meriton gets their great name from.

The Meriton

The tower that kicked it all off in the Sydney CBD. Struggles to stand out amongst it's taller siblings.

I saw an interview with Harry Trigubof on the 7:30 report last night.
He thinks we have too many parks in our cities and wants the opportunity to build in them.

I hope he never gets this opportunity!

So many sites with low density detached housing and former industrial estates in our cities and he wants to build in our parks.

Yes, his latest buildings look better from the outside, but he does give developers a bad name, better off without him.

He is not going to win any friends with that comment in Melbourne or any Australian city. I am sure that he is clever enough to scout for potential sites in built up areas - from his efforts in Sydney has managed to get good ones especially World Tower on the World Square site. Nobody want to touch it or didnt have the funds but he did it.

Harry Triguboff's eagerness to develop our national parks has been well known for years. I'm sure he knows it'll never happen--just wishful thinking on his part. Think of the killing he could make selling waterview apartments where the Royal National Park once was.
