Imagine if Boeing pulled the same crap with 777X as they did with the MAX. That'd be hilarious.

That will not happen and the 777 is arguably the safest plane ever built, nobody ever died because of a proven fault in the plane itself.

The 737NG is also very safe, and with minimal changes they managed to turn it into the flying coffin dubbed "MAX".
Don't say never...

The difference between NG and MAX isn't minimal. Although both shared similar fuselage, they're completely different planes.
MAX has larger wings and more powerful engines than NG. Theoretically MAX can fly further than NG and probably has lower seat per mile cost. But no one currently paying any attention to this benefit.

"Minimal changes" refers notably to Boeing using the old NG's computer and not making the landing gear higher (for good reasons, of course), which are some of the main causes of the crashes.

Great, just great....

Staff emails claim Boeing 777X ‘shares Max problem’

Quote:
Boeing’s new flagship, the 777X, is threatened with similar safety failings to the US aerospace giant’s ill-fated 737 Max, according to internal emails.

Damning messages released as part of a US Senate probe into two 737 Max fatal crashes highlight Boeing staff fears that the 777X – a modified version of an existing plane – may be vulnerable to technical problems.

In an email from June 2018, before the first Max crash, one Boeing worker wrote: “Best part is we are re-starting this whole thing with the 777X with the same supplier and have signed up to an even more aggressive schedule.”

It’s official: Boeing 777X will take to the skies on 23rd Jan 2020

It’s official: Boeing 777X will take to the skies Thursday, 23rd Jan 2020

Quote:
Boeing’s updated 777 wide-body is set to fly for the first time Thursday, beginning a series of test flights needed before the aircraft can be certified for commercial service.

The flight is to take off around 10 a.m. local time (1 p.m. ET) at Boeing’s assembly line facility near Everett, Washington.

The 777X is the latest update to the wide-body airframe that took its maiden flight in 1994 and first came into service about a year later with United Airlines.

Thursday’s flight signals the start of “the next phase of its rigorous test program,” according to Boeing spokesman Paul Bergman. But, he added, the flight could still get pushed to another day.

The main crap they pulled with the 737 Max was to push an outdated and obsolete design past it point of structural growth and aerodynamic stability, then slap an under thought out electronic band aid on the the resulting problems. And they did all this in a rush to answer a move by the competition.

There's no sign of this with the 777X. The redesign seems well thought out and complete.

779X first flight has pushed back on Friday. Due to weather, not anything mechanical.

I wish B777X best luck for its first flight. Its major problem though is that it doesn't seem to sell well.

Boeing 777X net orders by year:
2019: -17
2018: 0
2017: +20
2016: 0
Net orders 2016-2019: +3
Total orders: 309

No matter the way to look at it, it seems the market prefers it direct competitor which is the A350.

Airbus A350 net orders by year:
2019: +32
2018: +40
2017: +36
2016: +41
Net orders 2016-2019: +149
Total orders: 926
Total deliveries: 347 (2019: 112)

Not to dismiss your post - the 777X does indeed not sell well - the A350 was already flying commercially in 2016 while the 777X did not fly at all before 2020. So you compare an aircraft already proven in service to a paper jet.

All,

The first flight tests tomorrow morning at 10am PST/1pm EST. If the weather condition is good. It doesn't get too much rains or windy.
