I suggest you blame phoney Tony and his idiot Transport Minister Warren Truss who also just happens to be deputy PM who controls CASA which is a federal govt agency and THEY set the height limit in Melbourne not the State government

You should think yourself lucky you live in a city that is booming with plenty of great tall buildings going up all over the city.I remember Melbourne in the early 1980s when there was hardly a crane in sight and that was the legacy of many years of timid LNP governments. It was actually Labor under John Cain the got things moving by kicking off with Southbank which the State Govt at one stage did the financing.Dan Andrews will do the same.

What are you guys complaining about ? They've designed it to the PAN OPS ceiling you cant ask for more than that - its CASA not the governments who are primarily to blame and its not like we didn't know there was a limit for this site below 300m

What is confusing is the indication of the limit being 283m on the drawing that must either be a typo or referring to above ground or out by 10m (most likely). Either wan PAN OPS must be greater than that - Aurora's limit is 285m and its closer to the airport (therefore lower ceiling).

If the roof is RL 291.9m not 281.9m (as Curtain indicated) that would make the tower 280m above ground which is a very nice outcome I think !!

270m is a big tower. we on forums seem to be the only ones concerned about height or supertalls.

It is not a hotel tower, just like Crown Sydney it is a mixed use tower. It will have the highest hotel rooms in Australia when completed.

As to how long it will have the highest hotel rooms in Australia we will have to wait and see if the highest hotel floor in this tower is more than 258.5m.

Does anyone here have the ability to get definitive heights for this?

Now is the time to use your sources/contacts!

Not convinced.

All you commies/socialists who voted for Labor and Greens are directly responsible for this mess - cutting short the towers in Melbourne now.

It's your state ministers who is doing it, hand in hand with his Greens comrades.

All these podiums, give the appearance of a shorter, stunted tower. Detracts from its overall height.

Yeah 270m. The sky villas on top of crown sydney are for high rollers and not private and are 258m. Not sure Ritz can claim tallest hotel unless they start talking sea level and even then hotels in Thredbo could claim the same thing.

Of course, it's yet another idiotic leftist nonsense - people don't really pay attention to it anymore, it's sooooooooo old. It doesn't scare anyone anymore, it doesn't make people run for the hills anymore.

Socialism (ALL kinds) is a failed system, don't forget it comrade! Look at Greece, what a great example.

National Socialism was a totalitarian movement, anti free market. So, it was actually in a way very similiar to your leftist socialist/communist heaven in Soviet Russia. You got that, comrade? Or is this too complicated for you?

Well there must be a lot of the people you hate in Victoria as the latest News Poll BTW 50% owned by News Ltd who dont have any love for the ALP shows the Andrews govt on 58% to 42% at those figures the LNP would be wiped out.Morgan also has the ALP way ahead.

The public like to see things getting done and this shows in the latest polls. We dont have any socialist partys in Australia they are all centre left or centre right with none wanting to socialise anything.
FFS the ALP are going to sell a government asset the Port of Melbourne to private interests real socialists would be horrified at this.
