The Toyoko (or whatever it was) tower was shite. This is great, high quality and looks great from every angle. The site is pretty shoddy at the moment, this would be a great NYC moment when people emerge from the station and look up.

Tokoyo inn haven't lodged an app yet I don't think?

Think your getting confused with previous proposals for the site by its old owners?

The dancing zebra has reminded me of Harborne. Where did he disappear to?

Looks decent but i imagine some changes maybe required.

If not this building in its current forum looks to sterilise the adjacent site. There are windows on all sides of this building from the first hotel floor. If this isn't changed we won't be seeing anything of any size on the site next to it so it.

Other than that, i'd like to have some variation to the plant level. There were some really good ideas in the D&A that didn't get through to the final stage and those would have been better than what is proposed. Please to see the roof terrace is still there from what i could make out.

There is no elevation for station street which is a shame so i'm slightly worried by what we will get here.

Great on all other aspects though. Style isn't my taste but it is different to everything we already have in the city.

Hmm, I've heard this said before by planners and I don't quite agree. In my view, if New York for example can build towers with all sides windows, I don't understand why we can't - what is it that prevents us? Isn't it part of city life living in close proximity...

Great proposal by the GHA team!

The horizontal slats reminds me of New St Signal Box.

So what's getting demolished to make for this building (which by the way looks great)?

Yeah Gallan House isn't particularly pretty, round the back of there is also a few dingy looking car parks but this proposal looks cracking.

Looks like the love child of the McClaren building and hotel la tour.

Not overly struck on the look of it.....

However, it is great to see more investment in this part of town, plus the bloc hotel in the jewellery quarter is great quality.

Good news is that Bloc have chosen to design a new hotel for themselves centrally - this isn't a development scheme or developer looking for a hotel chain to join to construct. (Melia / Regal) (Holiday Inn / Arena Central).

I expect this would start within the next 12 months? Possible Woody?

Also - in regards to the location - a hope we see a few more around here. Could be a very interesting cluster

Completely agree... If a developer wants windows on every side then it should be allowed, we may never see anything of any height next to it for a start, and one of the most ugly aspects of many new tall buildings is blank walls. It is probably one of the worst parts of HCT, the back. A lot of people actually like looking out windows onto an adjacent building too, I've lived in a high rise apartment with apartments directly opposite and it felt like New York.

I'm not overly keen, but it such a small site the shape has to be as it is. I'm going with "if you build it they will come", hopefully the new Grand Central exit and this will stimulate investment in the area.

We need more of this round here, Soutside really has so much potential. More so than Digbeth in its current form and arguably the JQ. Get a lot more people living round here and organically it should grow itself.

Looking at the lighting scheme I really like that. Think it'll be quite cool. Bloc illuminated recessed on all 4 sides. Very nice.

I... I'm not sure I like it! It seems to be the kind of building we're demolishing and moving away from! Happy it's going where it is, and that it has windows all the way around (albeit tiny ones), but it's still very... concrete looking and dark.

Love the view along Hill Street with Centre City though (but I hate that tower too).
