Eeeeek, TonyBear is going to have a fit he hate Longbridge as it is.

It's great to see a gym opening in the area, the SportDirect gym is terrible, but I must say the design isn't great at all, it totally ignored what's already in the area, and as funny as it sounds the current builds on the retail park are quite classy, this just looks cheap and tacky, surely they could have continued the design from the retail shops.

Back on a positive note, it good to see retailers have been signed up already, I did post the planning application on the previous page too.

Sefton, in that first picture you posted, is that existing residential in the background? It looks cr*p. I haven't been round Longbridge for years but if that's the sort of housing they're building there, they can keep it.

Thank you Reiss. Who is the developer who will build it? St Modwen?

The whole of longbridge ex rover is being redeveloped by st modwen

Not sure what one you mean

Behind this top right of the pic is one park sq office block, there's a separate thread for it somewhere

Behind it to the left is the extra care retirement village - separate thread for that too

Behind smiths etc is planned for housing but no plans have been submitted as yet

Cheers Sefton. That's cleared it up for me. It turns out to be the Retirement Village I was referring to. I thought they were private flats.

Views from M & S Cafe at Longbridge Town Centre.

There's a balcony outside.

Saw this Christmas display as I left Marks & Spencer.

Just when I thought a new path had been opened up near the bridge on the Bristol Road South, I found it to be fenced off!

As a reminder, it used to look like this 7 years ago!

Do we have any details on what the proposed remodel consists of?
I really hope they install ticket barriers, the station having just one exit makes it an ideal candidate; and this station has a particular problem of people loitering on the platforms/vandalism.

It appears the below cinema and restaurant scheme has been scrapped ...

Looks suspiciously like a Lidl...

Discount supermarket in D&A statement

I hope they’ve moved the cinema and restaurants to plot 4/5 instead of just scrapping it if that’s the case

Application Number2018/01697/PA
Application TypeOutline
Site AddressLand At Austin Avenue (adjacent to Smyths Toy Superstore) Longbridge Birmingham B31 2UQ
ProposalOutline planning application (all matters reserved for future consideration) for site preparation and construction of premises for a Use Class A1 supermarket; car parking, landscaping, access roads and associated works.

Wtf??? Could this be anything to do with Empire and the restaurants currently approved!? This is strange as Nandos, The Gym Group and The Light Cinemas had signed up!!! Lidl is not what s needed here, Aldi are building next to McDonalds.

This is approved as well, I hope city planners see sense here and ask questions!!

Why the approved leisure facilities are been scrapped for a supermarket in an area that was already overwhelmed with supermarkets! Sainsbury's, M&S, Morrisons and soon Aldi are all in walking distance from this. It's a bit like Stirchley again, replacing a gym with a supermarket. (I know the gym isn't built yet)
