Funny thing is that this isn't even the building most in need of a refurb in the area... if they're doing this one they might as well reclad all the 80's looking buildings on New Street

1980's?? This is a 1950's design, completed in the early 1960's and Woolworths was it's first tennant.

Noticed an app today from HSBC pension trust uk (the peeps who own the building) for a change of use to the ground floor

In more scintilating news, but only just, Wates Construction are doing this I believe, with a targeted completion of March in 2020, give or take

Thanks for the pic Reiss. That pic also shows the refurbishment to the Piccadilly Arcade - new black and gold paint job. Not sure how I feel about the glass doors they've put in though - bit too modern looking perhaps...

Will be good to see the old Woolworth Building back in use soon though. (Although I'm dreading what that lift will look like on New Street, lol.)

The glass door is terrible on the New Street entrance, being installed over the ceiling frescos. Not the finest treatment!

I walked past this today and was surprised to see that there is no sign of work on the new street side of the building, I'm assuming this will start soon. I can't even remember what the plan was for this side of the building?

I'd like to see a tall on Ethel street (where Churchill House is) to hide those big blank walls. Granted there are windows on that side but a central lightwell between it and the new build could accommodate them
