Shame. Council / developers probably want to keep Alpha Tower as the dominant structure on this site. Birmingham has almost ran out of Grade A office space, this building will not satisfy future demand.

This is a much larger plot, and we have two more office buildings in this scheme. If anything, it is an increase in office space is it not?

Arena 3 looks disappointing to me. The height, the appearance, everything. Very disappointed in fact.

Also, I`m annoyed that they are replacing the two residential blocks on Bridge Street with offices. Could mean the area will feel a little too quiet in the evening.

I do hope though that we see 1 Arena Central increased in height by at least two or three floors because it looks extremely odd in the renders.

Yep, overall, disappointed.

Plot 6 needs to be taller and 7 taller still.

Can't find a better render but I wish we were getting this in place of 3.

That would have been better. Not a fan of the hexagonal windows.

Yep as the furthest back it should be the tallest. We're all still in the fuzz of reality that AC is actually going up....

Me neither. The shape of the windows in this will really date this building. Let's hope this is one of the proposals that is ditched!!!

Whilst that is currently true, we have a massive amount all either on site or expected to be by the end of 2016:

103 Colmore Row, (funding secured, site clearance underway)
3 Snowhill, (funding secured)
6 Cardigan Street (U/C)
8 Cardigan Street, (summer 16)
Belmont Works, (summer 16)
1 Chamberlain Sq, (funding secured, site clearance underway)
2 Chamberlain Sq, (funding secured, site clearance underway)
2 Arena Central. (U/C)

With also 1 Arena Central, Lumina & Post & Mail phase 2 all ready to go with a Pre Let.

As for this proposal, I kinda like it despite the lack of height, the density is very similar to Brindley Place.

You're quite right, RB. But we should be planning 20 years ahead, and all those fantastic developments you've listed, may not be enough with HS2 on the way, and up and running 10 years from now.

Remember, in 20 years time or less, HS2 will have reached Manchester & Leeds .... Birmingham needs to be well placed to to 'mop up' as much business from London as possible .... if Birmingham doesn't, then Manchester certainly will.

Are there any plans for the Municipal Bank as part of Arena Central?

Surely it can't go unoccupied and degenerate with all these brand new builds surrounding it. That building would make for a great museum. Great place for one too.
