I drove past this an hour ago wondering when they'll start construction. I'm hoping we see some movement before the end of the year.

They are marketing this as being London type accommodation in Brum, with hotel services throughout, you can even have your sheets turned back at night too, I just wish they'd have kept Rofuto in the offer too.
If you could afford to live here, you could afford to go regularly to Rofuto too, or they could have added it to part of the service offer.
Why couldn't Rofuto hold out until there was St Martin's Place, Lansdowne House, Bank 1 & 2, Arden Gate and Moda's residents (several thousand) all within a couple of minutes walk away. Birmingham sadly lacks in roof top bars, we get a really good one and it closes down, just when an enormous market is about to be built on its doorstep, and the metro is due to pull up[ outside too..really frustrating.
I do like this project though, hope it helps "pull up" the top end of Broad Street, should have stuck to their guns and gone taller though. Even the St Martins Place logo has three vertical lines in it resembling a tall slick tower, not the somewhat "stumpy" mid height we're getting.
That said I still like this, what the heck is happening to all the hotel car parking though, is it going underground or have they negotiated something with Five Ways Leisure to take some space in there? Surely its not all going to simply vanish?

They probably need a load of sales before construction starts.

They'll only be getting a deposit per plot. Can't see that being the case to be honest.

I get regular "pop ups" on my mobile from Seven capital, and they're currently saying 64% sold, after about 4 weeks or so.

That is impressive!! Even though it’s probably Chinese/ Russian investors buying them.

I think we've got a start date folks.
Popped into Park Regis reception and asked them how long their car park will be remaining open. They confirmed that on 9th JULY the car park (in their words) was getting demolished.
Dedicated parking for the hotel is then going to be available in Broadway 1 across the road. Not sure whether they're going to be providing transport or valet service to get across to the hotel. Anyways, that would seem like a good pointer to start of ground preperation to me.

Another active site, car park all dug up, and a hole already in the ground. Another one for the Construction forum!

Spoilt for choice with site starts and construction underway, need the apps to start flowing again though!

Yes it's been such a contrast with all the starts so far this year and yet no major apps since December. I think the second half of the year will be the similar. Many more starts but just several big apps.

Indeed, great to see several starts coming through... Also, (and probably for another thread) With so much development around here I wonder what on earth is the fate for 5 ways Tower? I used to be all for saving it. But if it was pulled down I'd be happy to see it replaced with something akin to Chamberlain Halls student tower.

Sorry, back to topic.

A lot of Bham's premium apartment stock still have laminate flooring, convection heaters and poor quality kitchens so the spec is pretty poor, while there is probably a demand for higher quality units, it would be good to see if that's the case.

Nice to see some recognisable iconic and quality furnishings in the renderings. That black chair is a Knoll Barcelona chair, RRP £5800 and famously Patrick Bateman has two in his flat in American Psycho lol.
