Is there going to be anything built which isn't student accommodation ? Geordies are being excluded from living in their own city centre.

excellent photo up dates of the st jame s point project and building A at downing plaza. just become a member of this forum and I am really enjoying the posts- banter. I have been an avid viewer of Newcastle planning portal and have made many comments on applications. I look forward to making a few comments myself in the future. novonew47. it is great to see the redevelopment of my home city but I fear the city planners are frightened of taller buildings and in their pre planning meetings they seem to restrict taller developments, I would have loved to see this building at least five floors higher as it appears dwarfed by st jame s park

Comment has been made about "lack of storeys" - wonder if this sight line on Barrack Rd had anything to do with the height of this building

This is going to be an absolute delight. From what I can see, it is only a maximum of 10 floors and 28 meters above ground, with the other two floors being at the other end of the building and down the hill. Oddly that means the tallest part of the development will be at the Science City end. And it's clad almost entirely in rainscreen. Green rainscreen.
