Nice to see the last pre-war building (1889 with a 1920's makeover to be exact) with a bit of character along the riverfront replaced by some concrete with holes in it. it's a pity cos it's a nice location for a pub with an outdoor area extension if possible, that could still have the tower on top of it. wasn't this up for a facade-retention?

I like how the tower interacts with FWP though, it's a good design IMO once you get above the carpark podium levels

I don't like the piece of cheese slapped on the front. Rest of it looks good.

I tried counting them a bunch of times and got 54. 45 of residential(?) and 9 for podium.

45 x 3m = 135m
9 x 4m = 36m
= 171m

meh. very, very rough guess.

I'm going with 162m to roof. Not quite sure what to think of the design - render seems to be lacking some details and looks conceptual.

I hope that's not lots of concrete I see in the building :/ otherwise this may turn into a beauty and the beast relationship between the two. Freshwater Place being the beauty of course and this building being the beast (I can see some glass but it seems to be inset into the building) But I hope to eat my words and it is still early stages... but as for the holey baloney on the front.. yuck! - what is the point of it?

it looks like one of the circle on cavil towers, a bit like the towers proposed for the age site that eveyone loved but never went ahead.

I love it! The Boom is back! Keep it on rolling!

Although I'm abit skeptical about the podium, whose the owner? But it's a great addition to the Melbourne Skyline, hopefully it will be tall too. It's very Sleek and Edgy looking.

seems like they had a big concrete wall and no idea what to do with it.
I think the punching odd shaped holes in concrete is being done a quite a bit in recent designs, like the corner building on the Windsor Hotel or the 'Artists Apartments' development in Fitzroy.

sometimes looks great (the new recital centre and webb dock bridge are a bit similar to it in theory), other times not so much.

I really think the QBH should be kept here, at least the facade, as it's the last link to the past thats left visible along the waterfront, and suits that corner well. otherwise it's just going to be a long stretch of modern glass structures (albeit some with stunning design when you look up), that leads to a fairly sterile built form.

I always love seeing it poking in between the modern buildings from the window of the train. sense of place and all that...

Going out on a limb but I like the hole look. Not something I would normally go for at all but somehow it works to me. Mind you I would prefer the original facade to remain.
The tower itself looks very slick from this angle. Love the styling.

Personally, I feel the podium design is way to bold for a promenade that looks very sophisticated or rather uniformed architecturally. For Queens Bridge Square, I'd rather a more conservative type glass building similar to it's taller neighbors lining the Yarra.

Not sure about this one.

I really don't like the idea of that podium facade in such a prominent location in Melbourne, and I predict a pretty big scream of protest from FWP residents, as not only would their south-western outlook be gone, but they would be literally five metres from their neighbours in the new tower. I used to live in FWP on that side of the building and you are right up against QBH.

Yeah I'd like to see the facade retained for the building, at least partially. Concept/proposal looks interesting from the podium up though.

I knew I had seen this somewhere before. To me one of the few Dubai buildings that is sculptural and pushing the envelope.
I repeat. I'm a fan but do need to see more renders.
