Well, that airport is at least, absolutely, unbelievably, incredibly... good looking!

Don't worry about the plants and trees, those will come later with the completion of the road infrastructure, and public transit and arrivals plaza... be patient guys, that will be done around March next year.

Must say Im really impressed with the layout, the main terminal itself is very airy & that huge volume give it a good feel. Nice to see the restuarant area nice & high up with good views of the apron, I know the guy that owns the Ocean Basket, Subway & Wimpy, I should go there 1 day for breakfast lunch and supper

Is it big enough you think? This looks like about the size of the Domestic terminal at OR Tambo? Lastly, will it serve both Domestic and International? It looks nice I think, but it doesn't really blow up my skirt or anything. But then again, photos don't always do it justice.

far too few, no soft scaping all hard surfaces. no planters, water features anything to soften the uber hard feel to the place.

Its not critisism of the airport but commentary from someone who has flown most of the worlds great airports and some do it well (honkers, KL) and so do it badly

The Airport received a thumps up today during John Robby's how on 702. Listeners who used it were very impressed. Well done CT.

I like the airport, and it is something that every local can be proud of and every tourist can be impressed with.

I have not been to the place since Saturday which is generally a "quiet day" but the place was rather full. I think we could see another minor expansion in the next few years. 2015 for the latest. I think this would include the realignment of the runway etc. Final product will be in March, with all the grass and trees some of which will even be done this December.

As the welcome note said, Proudly Cape Town.

Well Andrew if you're already talking about an upgrade to make it bigger then is it of adequate size at present?

Eish.

Previous Capacity 6.5 million
At this stage of course, demand of 7-8 million exceeded supply

The current phase is 14 million capacity with 8-10 million expected over the next 3-4 years.

Of course by 2015-2020 they will need to reevaluate the 14 million capacity and consider the next phase, new runway, etc.
