Some flight changes for SAS' long haul services.

Its mostly interesting if you are looking out to try the A350.

latest numbers

Transfer in combination of course with IC is pulling the numbers. Lets just hope for some more IC routes from SAS.

Apparently both SAS and Norwegian are looking into the idea of opening routes to Greenland when the 2200 meters runways open in Nuuk and Ilulissat in 2023
https://sermitsiaq.ag/sas-norwegian-...-air-greenland

As someone who lives in Nuuk I’m very excited about this. Air Greenland fares are outrageously high, and their long-haul fleet consists of a single Airbus 330-200 plane which is 21 years old.

October numbers are up.

Me and my brother (aka milipumba) helped on the Munich numbers this month.

In other news....

Norwegian is closing their Malmö Stockholm route as say that the reason is that more Swedes uses CPH.

I´m guessing that it is the Flyskam tax that does it, at your before mentioned Munich trip we parked at P10 and was surrounded by cars with Swedish numberplates.

https://www.flygtorget.se/Aktuellt/Artikel/?Id=13447

The same article list these 5 new Norwegian summer routes out of CPH:

Köpenhamn – Gdansk:
trafikeras två gånger i veckan med start 16 april 2020.

Köpenhamn – Szczecin:
rafikeras två gånger i veckan med start 1 april 2020.

Köpenhamn – Poznan:
trafikeras två gånger i veckan med start 31 mars 2020.

Köpenhamn – Palanga:
trafikeras två gånger i veckan med start 31 mars 2020.

Köpenhamn – Hamburg:
trafikeras två gånger i veckan med start 17 april 2020.

Airports of Øresund Metro Area | News & Updates

I guess what Norwegian does is something I have always thought. Why 2 airports in the region? I know the bridge makes it expensive to ask your friend to pick you up at CPH but there are for instance trains with 3 stops in malmö direct to the doorsteps at CPH.

By only flying on one airport you will combine the domestic (and with Copenhagen) pax with the one that have a connection. I think the region would benefit from having just one airport.

All new lines from Norwegian are already served by SAS. Why couldn’t they pick some new destinations?

I think that the airport or Øresundsbron should offer a discount for people with a boardingcard/ticket valid for the same day.

I have thought exactly the same. You can use your boarding/ticket (or a copy of it) only twice (for the return as well) only on the day.

Btw some route additions from SAS

For the winter the Washington route was supposed to be 6 weekly for 2 months only.

But now it will stay on 7 weekly all winter.

Apparently they can utilize their long haul fleet better after they moved the LAX route to CPH.

SAS will also next summer go from 4 weekly to 7 weekly on the Gazipasa route.

Guess that proves that one real hub is better than three semi hubs

Financial report for the first 3 quarters.

In short, they are loosing money on parking and air traffic but earns more money on the shopping, hotel and offices (aka the non aeronautical)

Picked this one up from CPHtraveller. In the Dallas business journal https://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/n...mpression=true they list top 10 unserved routes. CPH comes in on 4th place. As a detail ARN comes in on a 5th place so a route to CPH could probably pick some of that up via transfer (+ transfer from all other cities that are connected with CPH).

Wasn’t there a route to Houston for a short while? Started up from Stavanger?

Yes there was but then the oil marked crashed and they moved the small 737 business jet to the CPH Boston route.
Later they converted it from the business layout to a regular long haul configuration, until the lease on the 737 ended.

Singapore Airlines could sell 4-5 more departures per week.
So why don't they do that :-)
