US, Angola clash over Kenya arms

Quote:
A ship carrying military weapons belonging to Kenya is still being held in Angola, the US revealed on Tuesday.

A statement from the US State Department did not, however, give details on why the Angolan Government was still holding the ship, Maersk Constellation, even after it had furnished them with details of its cargo.

“Our primary concern is for the safety and well-being of the crew, including the 20 US citizens on the Maersk Constellation. The status of the personnel on the Maersk Constellation is unclear, and we are actively seeking clarification from Angolan authorities,” the statement said.

The US expressed concerns over the delay, saying it could affect perishable items for humanitarian programmes in Mozambique, Malawi and Rwanda. The ship is carrying about 15 million kilos of maize, soy and beans.

“US Embassy officials are in Lobito, Angola, to meet with the 20 US citizens on the ship and provide consular services as needed. This is the embassy team’s third visit to the ship,” the statement said.

The ship flew the international flag for hazardous materials on board when it went into Angola, and Angolan authorities have no reason to hold this ship and its crew hostage! Everything was done exactly like it is supposed to be done, they are probably just trying to steal the weapons. Nobody claimed the ship was carrying grain since if it was, there would have been no reason for it to fly the hazard flag.

There must be a reason why Angola is holding the ship.

Angola is one of the most heavily armed in SSAfrica. what reason would they want to steal some chicken weapons for?. Angola spends more than any nation on army in SS Africa (except SA, Nigeria and Ethiopia).

Angola spent 2.8 billion on arms, Nigeria spent 1.6 billion and Ethiopia spent 0.4 billion last year.

If Angola is so heavily armed and great ,why are they holding our ''chicken weapons'' for?You need to quit your condescending attitude towards anything Kenyan.Stop it with the chicken leagues, chicken weapons etc.Thats a last warning.

I said there are reasons why they are holding the ship (I sure you read that part).

No one knows the reasons why. Not you or me. and like i said. they don't need chicken weapons when they easily spend billions on weapons.
