I made a little mistake with the crossing of M2. The line would of course go over Amagerbro, or Lergravsparken, metro station.

Super good news:
http://www.b.dk/nationalt/nu-koerer-...tbane-i-ring-3

But it is absurd that this project, that was first proposed in the early 1990's, is not completed before 2018-2020. 30 years to build a light rail! That's Denmark in a nutshell!

Copenhageners will likely welcome this decision:

http://ing.dk/artikel/119592-endelig...e-i-koebenhavn

Nice to see that they chose the "full" solution - I don't think the rail-factor should be underestimated when compared to a bus-solution.

Edit - sorry for the double post...

I just hope this will intensify the Realdania-supoorted Ring City initiative in the involved municipalities. It is really a golden oportunity to transform these areas into something better.

A very well documented and illustrated environmental rapport from BaneDanmark on the proposed capacity expansion on the approaches to Kastrup Airport.

Sometimes you just wonder how much high class public transport is necessary before you can get motorists out of their cars. No, unfortunately this is not a station car park but the Danish Radio´s headquarters employees parking area, 50 metres from the metro station, from where the photo is taken.

Put a fee on the parking, a fee that reflects the land value if developed. Then you'll see fewer motorists.

Drawing showing the path of the new bridge over the harbour between Nyhavn (left) and Christianshavn (right)
Pity they didn´t pull down the whole of that single story shed instead of just half of it and make a decent park or a spectacular tower on the area.

The 11 municipalities, the Capital Region and the Ministry of Transportation has now agreed on the 28 km light rail line along Ring 3. The price tag is 3.75 billion and it should be finished by 2020.

Great news and this is where is goes.

I hope it will be as imaginative as the Loop City proposal.

28 June 2011

SWEDEN: Veolia Transport is to take over local services in southern Sweden which are currently operated by DSBFirst Sverige, Gunnar Wulff, Chief Executive of regional transport authority Öresundståg announced on June 28.

This follows an agreement between DSB and Öresundståg which aims to ensure continued operations and also to stabilise the DSBFirst joint venture, which has been embroiled in financial problems since allegations of cross-subsidy with DSB arose earlier this year (RG 5.11 p30).

Veolia will gradually take on responsibility for Öresundståg services over the next six months, with the aim of being in full charge by the December timetable change. Veolia's contract runs to the end of 2013, to give Öresundståg time to tender for long-term operator. Staff at DSBFirst Sverige will transfer to Veolia, or return to DSB or DSBFirst Danmark.

As well as the Öresundståg contract, DSBFirst has two others sets of contracts for local services in southern Sweden and Denmark. FirstGroup has now exercised its put option for DSB to buy out its 30% stake in DSBFirst Väst, which operates services around Göteborg under an eight-year contract which started last December.

Since January 2009 regional services across the Øresund bridge have been operated by DSBFirst under interlinked Danish and Swedish contracts. FirstGroup has told DSB it also intends to exercise its option to withdraw from this joint venture, but DSB has asked the UK firm to delay until DSB's internal financial issues are resolved.

Here is a high resolution of the tunnel entrance. Wonder where that plane has taken of from. It looks a bit too close for Kastrup.

and an aerial view of the whole project, minus the recently approved cycle/pedestrian bridge alongside the railway bridge in spite of it been shown crossing over Lyngbyvej.

Interesting article about the S-SF-proposal for car toll in Copenhagen:
Amager får særordning i betalingsring

Won't this somewhat defy the purpose of the toll? This is exactly the kind of transit traffic that should be avoided. Time perhaps to speed up construction of an eastern ring connection.
