Yes but not in a good way.

Was just thinking what a nice colour the leaves on the trees in front of 2 AC are in this picture, and it made me think of 4 Pancras square and how it would fit nicely in the middle of this development.

Anything like 2 and 3 would be fine by me for the final two plots also

This is just a re-hash of the Wanda Reign Hotel Façade (also by MAKE).

A little lazy?

(also - my first post)

Welcome Jeannie. I hope it`s not your last post.

Never heard of the Wanda Reign Hotel Facade. I did however watch A Fish Called Wanda when it came out at the cinema and thoroughly enjoyed it too.

I don't get the negativity for this proposal. It's an early concept design and lots of architects re use motifs in their work. Maybe wait for a full planning app before rubbishing the design

Well we are trying to change the image of the city, and it's not helped when architects are designing to the same style of the stuff we are trying to get rid of. The top of this looks like the roof panels on the old library.

The negativity stems from it being smaller than it was suppose to me not the building itself surely? It looks a really smart design that if proposed off the cuff would be highly regarded. It's by MAKE that's one architects practice I trust fully. Wait and see I say.

That looks really good. If ours were taller it could have the same impact on Centenary Sq.

I don't like it. In the same way I hate it when people put their kitchen floor tiles ... or even wall tiles .... in a diamond pattern at an angle trying to be clever. Looks naff.

Just a stray thought...but diamond shapes are associated with fame and reputation in feng shui.

This sounds dangerously like cultural stereotyping, but maybe the developers are negotiating with the same Far Eastern fund that was behind the Wuhan building.

That would go some way towards explaining the similarities in design...and the use of the diamond motif.

I think it is a reflection of this:

Amateurish attempt, but hey, I don't have a degree. I still think the rear corner plot could be taller than the centre building.

Unfortunately Alpha's listing seems to mean that nothing taller than it can be built within a thousand meters of it but I like the massing of your attempt.
