Bangaluru-Mysuru highway six-laning to start from December 2016

Quote:
BENGALURU: The much awaited six laning work on Bengaluru--Mysuru highway is expected to kick off from December 2016, said H C Mahadevappa, PWD minister on Friday. The National Highway Authority of India launched the third stage of state and national highway upgradation projects in Karnataka on Friday, of a total worth of Rs1150 crores for 1400 km road length. The NHAI has sanctioned a total of Rs3500 crores for development of 4315 km roads in the state.
With Bengaluru--Mysuru highway numbered 275 being upgraded, the corridor is likely to reduce time travel to just 90 minutes. The autobahn will be upgraded as planned with freeways in an estimated two years as per NHAI. This is also aimed to boost economy in the Chennai--Bengaluru--Mysuru corridor.

Of the 10-lanes, six lanes in the middle will operate on a toll-basis while the two lanes on either side of expressway will be service roads.

That is what they planned i.e. december 2016. As per latest briefing by mahadevappa PWD minister, Tender details are still not finalised. Anywhere between Jan-March 2017 you may see tender announcement. From there add 2 months for bid eval and then 2+ months for contractor to mobilize and start works on ground.

NHAI has to prepare tender, I also keep hearing that acquisition is all done and compensation payment is only pending which will be cleared in couple of months.

In that case it would be a super expressway. Btw I still have doubt because large chunks of land is required and it would be a much costly affair. Widening to 6 lanes is not much issue, but extra 4 lanes ?

Mysuru in 90 minutes by 2019. Yes!

Quote:
The process of converting the ever-busy Bengaluru Mysuru Road to a six-lane highway was set into motion on Tuesday with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issuing a final notification for acquiring lands.

With the notification issued, the officials hope to start the groundwork which includes tolled six-laning of the 128-km stretch between NICE Road Junction, off Kengeri (near Bengaluru) to Mysuru Ring Road (near Columbia Asia Hospital Junction, Mysuru), with tollfree two-lane service roads on either sides all along the stretch. It also includes necessary by-passes at Bidadi, Ramangaram-Channapatna, Mandya, Srirangapatna and a flyover at Maddur.

It is believed that once the six-lane access-controlled road becomes operational, the travel time between the two cities can be reduced to almost half the present three hours it takes * which goes up to six hours during peak hours. The traffic on the road sees up to a total of 80,000 passenger car units per day.

An NHAI official told Bangalore Mirror, “Except for a small stretch at Maddur and Channapatna, the notification has been issued for the entire stretch. The notifications for these pending stretches are likely to be notified within a week.“

Now, the officials are working on the compensation part which will be as per the revised guidelines of the Union government * up to four times the market value in rural areas and twice the market value in urban areas.

This will be followed by the call and award of tenders. The entire pre-groundwork may be completed in the next five tow six months, while the actual work is set to begin in early 2017. The project is expected to be completed in two years * in 2019.

Currently, the entire stretch b et wee n B e ng aluru a nd Mysuru is a four-lane one.

As there are no by-passes or flyovers, there are a lot of congested stretches especially at the towns of Bidadi, Ramangaram, Channapatna, M a d d u r, M a n d y a a n d Srirangapatna.

Whenever vehicles enter these towns there are traffic jams. Compounding this, is the problem of a number of existing speed-breakers near the villages.

The NHAI officials said once the access-controlled road is constructed, they will remove all the speed-breakers and plan mini-flyovers at important junctions.

The entire project is likely to cost more than Rs 3,000 crore.

The vehicle operators will have an option to either travel free on the service roads or take the tolled access-controlled road.

8-LANE CUT TO 6-LANE

The proposed eight-lane highway that was to be constructed between Bengaluru (Nelamangala) and Tumakuru has been cut down by two lanes. Now, the Nelamangala-Tumakuru highway will be a six-lane highway along with two-lane service roads on either side.Earlier, construction of eightlane highway between Nelamangala and Tumakuru had been planned. This road is one of the most congested one; and sadly, most of the heavy goods vehicles travel on the rightmost lane (the fast lane), thereby slowing the movement of traffic.

An NHAI official said, “Our plan for eight-lane has been modified. However, we plan to construct wider service roads as there are a number of industrial corridors all along the stretch, and there was is great potential for growth.“

GOVT. INVITES TENDERS FOR MYSURU-BENGALURU 10-LANE HIGHWAY

Atlas, tenders have been invited

http://starofmysore.com/main.asp?type=news&item=48634

Six-lane road will be tolled; two-lane stretch on either side will be toll-free; to have 6 bypasses

Bengaluru, Dec. 20- The much-awaited project to upgrade the existing four-lane highway between Mysuru and Bengaluru into a 10-lane highway got a boost yesterday with the Union Government inviting tenders.

The 60-metre highway includes toll and toll-free stretches. While the six-lane section will be with toll, the two-lane stretch on either side will be toll-free and can be used as a service road. The tenders have been called for by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Interested firms can apply for tenders as per the NHAI norms by Jan. 5 and the NHAI is expected to complete the tender process by March 2017.

Works are expected to begin by the end of March or April first week and are expected to be completed by 30 months.

The State Government has almost completed acquiring 2,200 acres needed for the project, and only compensation remains to be paid. Once the highway is ready, it will take just 90 minutes to reach Mysuru from Bengaluru, sources said.

The expressway will cover a distance of 118 km between Vishwa Vokkaligara Mutt after NICE Road in Bengaluru and Columbia Asia Hospital junction in Mysuru. The NHAI project will have six bypasses at Bidadi, Ramanagaram, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya and Srirangapatna. The expressway is expected to cost Rs. 3,600 crore excluding Rs. 2,300 crore in land acquisition costs.

The 10-lane highway will have restaurants, fuel stations, toilets and vehicle parking spaces at intervals of 40 kilometres. All the facilities will be provided as per NHAI rules and the existing restaurants will not come on the tolled stretch.

According to the detailed project report, the highway will have an average daily traffic of 60,000 passenger car units. The expressway is expected to give healthy returns to the investor given the rising volume of traffic between the two cities.

Currently, over a lakh vehicles use the Bengaluru-Mysuru route on the weekends. The highway will take away at least 40 percent of this traffic, leaving only the rest for the existing four-lane highway between the two cities.

NHAI starts tender process for city Mysuru 6 lane road

BENGALURU: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has kicked off the tender process for the six-laning of the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway , raising hopes among the regular travellers between the two cities.

The new expressway is expected to cut the travel time between the two to 90 minutes and that should cheer the IT industry among others. Mysuru has not been able to attract investments in the IT sector in spite of Infosys landing there a decade ago and setting up the worl ..
