A few hundred thousands commuters will confirmed be using the RTS every day and the Johore economy are already generating billions of tourism receipt from Singapore tourists every year while Malaysians working in Singapore are bringing back billions of S$ into Malaysia economy every year.

If you already have a goose that lay golden eggs, the least you can do is to spend some money to keep the goose healthy instead of asking neighbors for donation to feed the goose.

Problem is, Malaysia government don't have money. The money all eaten by the previous Barisan Nasional government already.

That's why the new Pakatan Harapan government is so desperately looking to reduce the costs of the RTS Link.

But someone should really tell the Malaysia government that they can take soft loans, which comes at very low interest rates.

Take a soft loan, build the RTS Link as per already planned, get the RTS Link running, and slowly but eventually repay the soft loan, while the RTS Link with improved accessibility to Malaysia would already start to benefit Malaysia from the day it start running.

We are not looking for donations from our neighbors. Just that the country’s Golden goose isn't the same as an individuals Golden goose.

So our politicians is hard at work looking for their own golden goose that can feed them for the next 30 years

Or just ask a foreign country for a soft loan, like how the Indonesia government obtained a soft loan, with very low interest rates, from Japan, to build their MRT Jakarta system?

Money is really no problem, as long as the RTS Link solves the congestion and improves transportation.

With better transport, people can move to and fro Johor Bahru easier, which means more business at Johor Bahru and Johor, and this will stimulate the Iskandar Malaysia development and benefit the Malaysia economy.

Small money don't go in, big money how to come out? This is called investment. And the Malaysia government should really have the courage to make this investment, via taking a soft loan if necessary, and reap the benefits when the RTS Link starts operating.

1. Takde Telco company yg akan JV masuk bid project, klau ada pon mereka akan masuk bid for communication package shj. Not for signaling or as PDP. None.

2. Soft loan , investment atau how to get money, malaysian government know how to do business la bang cuma sentiment hutang dan political mileage/game kene seiring hehe Biasa la ni. Org Malaysia tak lah bebal sangat. hehe

Diaorg mintak dgn jepun tapi tak dpt (but not for RTS). Fyi, So far no new project proposed by the new government (klau ada pon it is from the existing line/proposal- like they resume MRT3 or
LRT4 yg MARIC conduct kelmarin).
The problem with MARIC, dia ada 2,3 railway company kat belakang dia (lead), so akan favor the 2,3 company ni juga later on. Mcmana business model utk project ni, masih dlm perbincangan.

Coming up rail network for state pula.

3. Malas nk tulis pjg2, monorail proposal dah boleh simpan sbb RTS proceed, which is dah kira bagus (for both country).
Cuma skrg depa dok susun utk privatize kan this project for whatever reason.
Timeline project telah di tepek di atas utk reference.

Lets hope for the best.

MFA fought for I-don't-know how long to reclaim the KTM land from Malaysia, I can imagine they'd get pretty pissed off if Malaysia wanted to take even some of that back for an "RTS".

Either way, still got the single track across Causeway to deal with.

You guys can build it and thus owned it and just changed ktm/srt for track utilization.

Not that this side of the causeway are thrilled at spending public money to build something in another country.

Govt to take six months to study RTS benefit — PM Mahathir
Bernama May 30, 2019 17:55 pm +08

Quote:
TOKYO (May 30): The government will conduct a six-month study on the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS) project to determine whether it would be beneficial to the country, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

"The previous government have entered into some kind of agreement on several projects in Malaysia.

"We felt that the contracts were overpriced and there was some evidence of corruptions and we decided long before we became the government to do away with the projects.

"However, doing away with the projects or cancelling them would involve very high compensation," he said at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan here today.

Hence, Dr Mahathir said the present government has decided to reduce the cost of the projects and renegotiate with the contractors, such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), where the government managed to slash RM21 billion from the original cost.

"Now we also have other projects, which we may have to delay, either delay or reduce the scope or the cost. This is what we are doing, but we are doing through negotiations," he said.

Among others he said, Malaysia needs two years to decide on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project.

"These are being settled amicably between the Malaysian government and the contractors of the previous government," added Dr Mahathir.
