TN should have picked another architectural firm for the state library...I have seen better designs with that tag price.

As, for example? I’m curious because I’m going to be taking a road trip later this year and want to visit the best.

It's very nice. Fits in well with our other civic buildings.

Off the top of my head, the library at NC State University is pretty nice. I believe it costs around the same amount. That same firm is designing the main library in uptown Charlotte...though somebody said it is already over the initial budget b/c of the crazy design.

Yes, but with a budget of nearly $125 millions...I just feel that you guys could haven gotten something better, that's all. The design could have been a little more inspiring/creative and still fit in with the surrounding environment.

Well we are Nashville, and we tend to get the shaft as it were. Many beautiful renderings turn into bland buildings, but at least its not a surface parking lot!

Heres to hoping we get a couple of 700 footers soon!

We can hope! In my opinion, while our skyline is getting more expansive, it is also getting a little stumpy. We need some 700 footers to make our skyline more exciting

I think I've vaguely heard of it, however, did you accidentally post in here?

SunTrust Plaza space prepped for Amazon

Quote:
Amazon officials have landed a major permit related to the build-out of space the company will take in downtown’s SunTrust Plaza.

The permit is valued at about $2.4 million, with Amazon eventually to work from floors 2, 3, 10 and 11. Swinerton Builders will handle the work at 401 Commerce St.

The move comes as Seattle-based Amazon preps to establish a major office presence at the unfolding 11-acre Nashville Yards with a Center for Excellence. That effort will bring an estimated 5,000 jobs and represent a $230 million investment.

Hey people, sorry if this is a bit out of place, but I am curious to know how Americans generally commute to the airports. Do you drive yourself and park at the airport (not feasible for a longer trip), get dropped by a friend/relative, take the bus/train, or go by cab? Especially for those living in the suburbs of mid-sized cities (e.g. Nashville) with not many convenient public transport options. Is it very expensive to go 15-20 miles by cab? In this age of budget airlines, sometimes the cab bills come to nearly the same as the airfare. Do you feel most people are happy with the current arrangements or is there room for much improvement?

I typically drive from my home and park long term. Away I typically Uber to and from airports unless rail is readily available.
