Jusco bags Rs 22 crore MP water project
Quote:
Jamshedpur, April 18: Tata Steel subsidiary Jusco is going places and touching more lives — it has now been selected to execute an urban water supply project in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

The Rs 22.75 crore project is its second largest foray into marketing expertise outside Jamshedpur — the Salt Lake water supply project in Bengal is the largest for Jusco or Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company, which provides all municipal and allied services to the people of Jamshedpur.

“It (the one in Gwalior) is a mega project that would be funded by the Asian Development Bank. We are looking forward to completing it by September 2009,” said Rajesh Rajan, the head of corporate communications at Jusco.

The MP project, Rajan said, involves augmentation of the water distribution system in Lashkar and Gwalior.

This would be followed by implementing the system in Morar.Urban conglomerates like Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Jabalpur would be covered by the plan to meet their growing infrastructure requirements.
Gammon, MP ink pact to develop CBD

Gammon India inked a deal with the Madhya Pradesh government to develop South Tatya Tope Nagar into a central business district.

The company is awaiting clearances from the state government. The government had roped in India Infrastructure Initiative (III) facility of IDFC and Feedback Ventures as project advisors to select the developer for the Rs 338-crore deal for the 15 acres.

Under the pact, the land will be given on lease for 30 years for setting up of retail and office space, multiplex, hotel, and other commercial spaces.

The total investment is envisaged to be over Rs 800 crore.

23 big firms eye Thatipur realty project in Gwalior

Quote:
As many as 23 big real estate firms are eyeing the Thatipur project in Gwalior. Reliance, DLF, Parsvnath and Gammon are in the fray to bid for the mega project, of which the bid submission will end on May 7.

The MP government has not set a reserve price for the project. The bidders have been asked to quote speculative prices.

After the bidding is over for the Central Business District project in the prime business locality of New Market in Bhopal, Thatipur will attract mega investment under the “re-densification scheme”.

Unlike the Bhopal project, which fetched Rs 338 crore from Gammon India for infrastructure development on 15 acres for a lease period of 30 years, the winning bidder will be awarded the Thatipur project on 95 years’ lease and will be asked to develop residential and commercial complexes on 50 acres in an integrated manner.

“The state government will lease the land for 95 years. Infrastructure will be developed on the basis of public-private partnership,” said Suresh Kumar, chief operating officer, Infrastructure Initiative Facility.

“The investor will have to construct houses for government employees on 20 acres,” Kumar said. The project is expected to be completed in nine years.

The India Infrastructure Initiative offers a “no-cost” solution to the governments or government undertakings to go through the process of project preparation and partner selection for the identified infrastructure projects.

1160 acres of land selected for textile park near Bhopal

Quote:
BHOPAL, May 26, 2008 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- Government land measuring 1,160 acres has been selected for setting up a textile park and an industrial facility in Mandideep-Budhni area near here.

Of this, 400 acres have been earmarked for establishing the textile hub and the rest for composite industrial use, where an area would be reserved for units based on food processing, an official release said here on Saturday.

On April 13, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced on the occasion of inauguration of Vardhaman Spinning Mill at Budhni tehsil in Sehore district that a textile park would be established in Mandideep-Budhni.

The plot chosen for the proposed park is non-irrigated and wasteland. Since it is located in the vicinity of Narmada and Tawa rivers, water would be available in ample quantity, the release said.

A power plant at Sarni is also nearby. Since big industrial houses have set up textile-based units in Mandideep -Budhni, it would be helpful in establishing knitting, processing and garment facilities in the proposed park.

According to the project report, the park would be developed on 225 acres and comprise 24 garment and four knitting and processing units costing Rs 5.60 billion (US$131 million).

The park would produce Rs 650 crore (US$152.4 million) worth of products a year and employ around 17,000 people, it said.

MP puts 5 properties on the block

Quote:
The MP government has put five properties including the Hotel Rahil, located in Khajuraho and run by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Developed Corporation (MPTDC), and Laxmipur Palace of Panna, famous for its collection of diamonds, on sale.

Three more properties are awaiting approval for sale from the Project Implementation and Clearance Board (PICB). The price for the Hotel Rahil is set at Rs 6.23 crore.

A meeting of the Project Implementation and Clearance Board (PCIB) will shortlist bidders for a few properties and will also approve floor prices for the others in its next meeting scheduled for June 11.

The other properties are an area of 16.02 acres in Chandanpura village in west Bhopal, a highway retreat in Karera village of Shivpuri district, and another property in Sakaria village of Panna district.

"There are 16 private partners who have participated in an auction of land of 16.02 acres in Chanadanpura village in west Bhopal. A Mumbai-based firm Valecha Engineering Ltd has made the highest bid for the land — Rs 5.41 crore," a source in the tourism department told Business Standard.

The private partner will have to develop the land as a tourist destination. A health resort and a convention centre are to be developed on the land. Similarly, the PCIB will clear an off-set price for Laxmipur Palace in Panna to covert it into a heritage hotel.

Further, another property in Sakaria village of Panna district will be developed for a flying strip, a flying training centre and a tourism destination at a floor price of Rs 55 lakh. Another roadside highway retreat known as Mark Suvidha in Karera village of Shivpuri district has also been blocked for private partners. The state government has planned to lease all these properties for a period of 90 years.

Another proposal floated by the Water Resource Department for a mini hydel power project of 2X95 Kw to be commissioned at Barna dam in Bari. A special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be created for the purpose.

Birla Corp to invest Rs 1,200 cr to set up cement plant

Quote:
M P Birla Group's flagship company Birla Corporation, now controlled by R S Lodha, on Wednesday announced its plan to set up a 3-million tonne cement plant in Madhya Pradesh at an investment of 1,200 crore.

The new plant would augment the company's total cement capacity to over 10 MT by 2011.

"We have decided to install a three million tonne cement plant in Madhya Pradesh for which we have already signed an MoU with the state government. With commencement of this greenfield plant the cement capacity will cross 10 million tonne per annum," Birla Corp Chairman R S Lodha said on the sidelines of the company's AGM in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The investment in the MP project would be Rs 1,200 crore and it would be funded through debt and equity, which would come mostly from internal accruals, Lodha said.

"We are waiting for the limestone mining block and the state is in the process of allotting it to us cancelling the right given wrongfully to someone else," Lodha said.

The company, he said, would go for land acquisition only after the limestone block has been offered. Birla Corp has asked for 2,000 acres.

If, the company fails to receive the limestone block, which may run into rough weather if the state government fails to cancel the right presently in force, then Birla Corp would relocate the project to other location.

The company has also received an exclusive coal mining block in Madhya Pradesh. The ongoing brownfield expansion at its existing sites like Satna, Chittor and Durgapur would be completed by June 2009 and the capacity would rise to 7.5 MT from 3.5 MT now.

Lodha said the group was planning to shift the operation of Soorah jute mill to Birlapur and all its employees, close to 12,000, would be absorbed at the new location. Soorah Jute mill is located in the city.
