According to what is being posted on the german language forum back to april, the tower may get build, after all .... I know, this winter, the perspectives were presented negative.

In the best case, now, construction could start be this year and be completed 2019.

What they are doing now is simply exploring the ground conditions.

The Sales Start Countdown was recently removed from the website so it may have a delay again. Monarch is still waiting for the permission to build it. But i think they will have the permission within the next weeks or months. The chance of realization is pretty high.

There are lots of people here in Berlin that believe in 20 or 30 years we will be happy that we did not follow the trend and did the same failures like london.

That's interesting.

I thought most people loved a skyscraper city than a flat one. It gives a sort of excitement.

My city, Colombo was flat but last few years its growing tall fast. Most people are happy and excited about it.

It really isnt a beauty, but what the heck.
When it comes to highrises in Berlin, you gotta cherish the fact that something goes on rather than being endlessly delayed and eventually cancelled.

The last ten years, Berlin has build 2 new +100m rises, both of those at Zoo, which turned out pleasantly. With the same pace, each new Berlin rise will continue to be a city wide happening. I hope the next 2-3 will come out great to compensate for the clumsy mediocrity of this one.

A few cities in Europe are worth saving flat, Rome, Florence, Venice, Prague, Dresden and some more as well. This would give them more attractiveness in the future.

In Berlin, the important thing should be to save historical quarters, not to hinder their co-existance with modern highrise architecture.

In fact, in my oppinion, Berlin would be greater (live better up to its amazingly great potential) if it would be better at BOTH of those two things: Save or even reconstruct historic quarters on the one hand and dare bold developments with metropolitan style highrise architecture in its main district centers on the other.

I think we are going to have some good years in Berlin regarding highrises.
There are quite a few project that could start this year or even in the next 2 years.

Theres absolutely zero correlation between being a great city and having tall buildings. Do you think amsterdam and venice are not great cities? They're a lot nicer places than many east asian cities, choked and overshadowed by ugly high-rises.
