Bratislava, Slovakia, is going to introduce bike-sharing system in the city center next year. It should look almost like on the promotional pictures below. Share bike-sharing system in your city with us!

This guy is changing Bratislava onto bike-friendly city and he is also responsible for this bike-sharing system, first in our country

I was in Liverpool for a meeting on Thursday and noticed they have a bike sharing system.

Tariffs from £3 per day, £9 per week or £60 per year.

Currently around 600 bikes at 60 locations around the city...

Btw, it's a bit weird to see the biking/cycling hype take off worldwide; seems A bit like An politically-endorsed realworld viral campaign.

Or may be bicycle is the real solution for traffic problems of many cities around the globe. It's the cheapest at the same time.

Most bikesharing systems in Germany are provided by Deutsche Bahn or by nextbike.

Trust me, when it gets massively popular there will be a need for 2- or even 3-level crossings in large cities like sao paulo, nyc, shaghai, tokyo or shenzen.
The downside to mass-cycling do tend make an odd appearance during rushhours, big cities need to keep in mind during construction that future amounts might result in new disorderly conduct or crashing cyclists..

Łódź in Poland has started a bike sharing system on Saturday a week ago. The system is operated by NextBike. And yesterday the city has beated the Polish record of bike rentals for a day - people took the shared bikes 13,652 times on a single day!

City population: 703,186
Number of bike stations: 100
Number of bicycles: 1000

Prices:
initial fee: 20 zł ~ 5 euro
balance required to rent a bike: 10 zł ~ 2.5 euro
up to 20 minutes: free of charge
21-60 minutes: 1 zł ~ 25 cents
the second hour: 3 zł ~ 75 cents
each next hour: 5 zł ~ 1.25 euro

Today at 12:00 there had been already 46,933 unique rentals since the system started.

Guadalajara, Mexico

Mibici is the name of the Guadalajara's public bikes system. It is a fourth generation system, from the canadian company Bixi (the same as in Toronto, Newt York, Boston, London, etc...)

It is only one year an a half old and have 230 stations and 2,000 bikes

Cincinnati started a bike share program in 2014 called Red Bike. There are two areas...the flat downtown area and the hilly area around the University of Cincinnati and the hospitals. The bikes are popular downtown but get virtually zero use in the hilly part of the city. The bikes that they got are very heavy (about 40 lbs) and only have three gears, so it's a strain even for regular cyclists to get around. Not only are they hard to climb with, but the heavy bikes roll very fast downhill and the clincher brakes seem a bit under-powered (discs would be better).

So my advice to other cities is not to bother with doing bike share in the hilly areas unless you like spending public money on bikes that won't get any use.
