Here are my pics from the last few weeks that I've been working in Carlisle in Northern England. I've grown rather fond of it already, and for a population of 77,000 it feels a lot bigger than it is.

Lets have a look in the market.

Carlisle seems to have lots of nice little courtyards with shops and cafe's off the main bits which are fun to explore.

Some parts feel very Scottish, which makes sense as its only 10 minutes to the border.

An Eastern European food market with a Skoda parked outside, very appropiate I thought.

Nice thread, fine pictures! We slept there one night last year, on our way from Hadrian's Wall to the Sxcottisch Highlands. Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit the city itself. Stll had a long ride to Fort William.
So thank you for the pictures.

I get the impression that despite being in the middle of Hadrians wall, the Scottish borders and the lake district very few people actually go there

Having a university always adds life to a place.

Not too far from Newcastle and Northumberland either; another region with a borders type feel.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm not really sure how much how much of a big deal the U of Cumbria is, I might go and check it out one lunchtime.

some of the buildings and some parts of the city are really old and that's nice...
I like the rural shots as well.

Well, there's so much stunning beauty, fantastic historical monumentes and great cities in that part of the UK, that visitors easy skip the little ones.
