Interior of the church of the Society of Jesus, Arequipa. The great neocolonial altarpiece and the baroque pulpit of the 18th century are seen.

Main front of the church of Santiago Apóstol (c.1680), Lampa, province of Lampa, Puno Region. It has a beautiful baroque cover inscribed in a large shelter arch and a curious exempt tower.

![]() SIPAN Known as Huaca Rajada, this is where the tomb of the Lord of Sipán was found in 1987, one of the most important Mochica rulers of Ancient Peru whose civilization dominated the north coast of the country between 100 and 800 A.D. With him were pieces of gold and silver, as well as remains of women, children and animals that were sacrificed to travel with him to the other dimension. Currently, this important discovery is exposed in the museum of the Archaeological Center of Sipán, one of the most important of its time for its worldwide value. In the city of Lambayeque, in addition, there is the Royal Tombs of Sipán museum, where some of the jewels located in the area are located.

Turban and 37 funerary contexts found in Chan Chan archaeological complex
Culture authorities of La Libertad yesterday presented a series of metal, wood, textile, ceramics, among others, discovered during the five years of research and excavation in the walled complex Chayhuac An, located in the archaeological complex Chan Chan, in Trujillo . One of the pieces that most impresses with its delicate elaboration, and which was recently found by researchers, is a white cloth four meters long, used as a turban by some important character in Middle Chimú (1200-1250 AD. ). The director of the Research, Conservation and Valorisation Program of the Chan Chan Archaeological Complex, Nadia Gamarra Carranza, reported that this turban was found in the rubble of the main funeral platform of Chayhuac An, which qualifies as a "miracle," because the activities of the huaqueros have prevented to register similar pieces. “This turban is made of cotton and has a front similar to a cover that is made of cotton gaza; the part that falls registers a thicker tissue. The truth is that we are facing a unique piece and being able to recover it in that state of integrity - I will never get tired of saying it - it is a miracle. Something similar can only be seen in private collections, ”he said. https://andina.pe/agencia/noticia-ha...an-767213.aspx ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
