I like it, actually. Maybe I've been brainwashed by all the new architecture in Öresundsregionen ("Europe's center stage for new architecture"

![]() Atleast the building in question is something different than what we usually see, though I wont call it a masterpiece.

It's maybe not the best achitecture ever, but I kind of like it too.
@CPHdude: Well, the plans for that area have been made a long time ago, so I don't think they change that in the middle of the process... @DLL4ever: 1920's! Where have you seen anything like that from the 1920's? @mlm: Actually this is a 100% dutch inspired building... ![]() |

No doubt there is a big resemblance there.
![]() There are so many of these odd/crazy/PLOT'like/horrible/fantastic buildings in The Netherlands these years. Surely not all of them are lucky, but atleast they dare to do something different. Hope to see more of this here in DK in the comming years. There has already been quite a lot of Dutch "activity" in CPH the last years, which is surely a welcome addition if you ask me. ![]()

Sorry, tournesol. While I certainly share your hopeful thoughts I once again remember it with sadness and remind you guys of it in the process: the Frederikstad Lighthouse project by the Danish architect and esteemed S&B fellow forumer arcoh was KILLED!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It seems to me that lot of awakening has to take place in Denmark. Perhaps Danish architects don't dare much any more because they've been shot down too often. What's the lure of foreign architects? What do they have to offer that your own homegrown architects don't? ![]() ![]() |

SFU protestere, SFU protestere - mod højhuse, klodsmajor, klodsmajor....
I agree that the political climate means that only forign aschitects can build abnormal things, mostly because the danish once, with few eception simply fell that we are to small and with to many restrictions...Afte all, danish architects have lost of succes in other countries, even building and poposing tall buildings...But here we just don see that....Damn thos f##king NIMBY's .... |

As discussed earlier in this thread there's a lot of development comming soon to Islands Brygge South.
The plan was first published in april this year, where danish office Plot and dutch office West 8 won a competition for the area. What's happening now is, that those plans has gone through the city planning department, and a lot of different architects has made propossals for the individual sites. To the discussion from ealier about the height limit of 45m, I'll have to add that there is a reason for it. Not that I'm very pleased about it. It's the chimneys of the near by H.C.Ørsted Power Plant. They where also the reason that Metropolis in Sluseholmen is only going to be 11 floors and not 16. Too bad they don't consider making the chimneys heigher or find some other solution to, instead of just accepting it as a limitation... Anyway back too the topic. The area is in my opinion going to look quite good (of couse all the towers could have been taller, but I'm not gonna repeat that for every project so now it's said!). The general idea is that instead of the usual CPH way with a lot of 6 floor'ers all over the place they want to build lower and denser with taller landmark buildings scattered arround the area. That idea of variation in HEIGHT is truely new to CPH, and I think it hold some possitive signals for the future. So here are the overall project: ![]() The area today: ![]() A couple of ather angles: ![]() ![]() PLOT has designed of of the project called the Wings. Two twisted slaps, 12 floors heigh: ![]() ![]() Vandkunsten has designed this elegant 14 floor'er: ![]() ![]() ![]() C.F.Møller has designed these 3 buildings rising from 4 to 12 floors: ![]() ![]() ![]() The round building also seen in the two pictures above is designed by italian achitect André Straja. Looks like 11 or 12 floors: ![]() ![]() The building to the right in the picture above is designed by english architect John Roberts, 12 floors heigh and in the shape of the silo that used to be in that spot: ![]() Carsten Holdgaard Architects has made this 12 floor'er: ![]() Dorte Mandrup Architect with a star or flower shaped 12 floor'er: ![]() ![]() ![]() Boldsen & Holm has designed 3 round buildings in the southern most part of the area: ![]() ![]() Here seen behind the Vandkunsten tower: ![]() Finally a "skyline" image with the heights shown. As you can see not all buildings are 45m, but 12 buildings are min. 36 meters: ![]() So without talking about the height (or lack of) it seems like there could be a couple of quite interseting towers in this area. Particulary the Vandkunsten tower seems promissing, in my opinion... |

Thanx for this presentation of all the projects. There are really some cool ones among them. I also really like the idea of big variation in height, instead of the usual 6 floors all over (with a single or two taller).
I will be exhiting to follow the development here, as better renderings are made public. ![]()

Vandkunsten is something unseen! Its so hard to invent something new - but some manage to do!
District looks quite pleasant!

Taking into account that this is CPH, 12 floors definitely isn't bad
