Most probably Q1 2019 since now already aug 2017. they need at least 19 or 20 months to complete construction depend on the size of the store.
but now we know it's a 4 storey store.
2 storey for parking & 2 storey for retail spaces.

1 additional floor will add total built up area. high possibility to be bigger than tebrau lor

IKEA Cheras is getting loads of customers after the MRT opened, saw many people with the iconic IKEA blue bag on the train till Kajang. Any ideas or predictions where IKEA might open next after Johor and Penang?

I suspect they'll go with 2 million radius ratio. So for klang valley I can see another two to cater for spillover demand. Maybe klang or somewhere in Shah alam border? That's a big market which quite far from damansara and cheras.

I can see another one in johor partnering sunway maybe?

East Coast definitely deserve one eventually. Maybe one in kuching and kk to complete the coverage. But those definitely 10 years from now at least. Plus folks at ikano are super conservative about expansion.

They currently do not have any expansion plan yet to Kuching other than the one in JB and Penang.

I really not like d idea of having roundabout thr.
even traffic lite cant handle d traffic.
i'm afraid this juz makes traffic flow worst from Mount Austin to Tebrau

On a good weather day, those departing Penang heading South should sit on the right side of the aircraft, most probably you guys can get a good view of Ikea Penang construction site.

Maybe the Penang IKEA site got lousy soil conditions, so got to do soil treatment first which took time - was swampy land before lor !!!

ps only recently they're started doing the sub-structures (pilings, pile caps, ground beams, etc...) mah !!!

Ikea to set up regional distribution centre for Asean in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — Ikea, the Netherlands-based furniture retailer, will be establishing a regional distribution and supply chain centre for Asean in Malaysia, with an investment of RM908 million.

In adopting the structure and technology of Ikea’s biggest regional distribution centre in Germany, it would be among the top 10 largest regional distribution centres of the Ikea Group globally, said the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in a statement today.

“The new centre will manage an inventory of 9,500 stock keeping units worth RM6.6 billion annually.

“Ikea’s new 100,000 square metre specialised warehouse will utilise its integrated information and communications technology systems and automation to reduce the dependency on labour and significantly increase the efficiency and accuracy of its inventory management processes,” MIDA said.

It also said Malaysia had always been a significant market for Ikea, as retail stores in the country were among its most visited globally.

The centre would be serving 12 retail stores in Asean and increase to 20 by 2026.

International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the project represented a significant milestone for both Ikea and Malaysia.

“Ikea’s decision to select Malaysia as a base to support retailers in the country, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and India, underscores the strategic fit in supporting the company’s overall growth strategy in the Asean region.

“The establishment also adds momentum towards making Malaysia a regional distribution hub and the preferred logistics gateway to Asia, as outlined in the National Logistics and Trade Facilitation Masterplan and National E-Commerce Strategic Roadmap,” he added.
